Waste Management Phoenix Open 2022 Odds, Predictions & Picks

Tap the kegs and turn the music up to 11 because the biggest party in golf is about to get underway with the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.
As much fun as it is to take in the unforgettable sights and sounds, it seems the golf betting field gets stronger every year. That’s certainly the case again in 2022, with six of the top 10 players in the OWGR teeing it up – including World No. 1 and Arizona State graduate Jon Rahm.
Rahm is the favorite with +650 odds on betting sites and betting apps. The reigning U.S. Open champ has been remarkably consistent in this event, finishing no better than T-10 and no worse than T-16 in six previous starts.
Justin Thomas is next with golf odds of +1000 – Thomas has finished T-17 or better in four consecutive starts, including a T-3 and solo third.
Hideki Matsuyama is next at +1400, while Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay and Jordan Spieth round out the top six at +1600. This is the first time the Waste Management Phoenix Open has been played since Arizona sports betting went live in September 2021.

Waste Management Phoenix Open Pick & Betting Tips
Best Bet: Andrew Putnam Top-10 Finish
Odds: +700 at BetMGM ➜
Putnam is trending up in a way that we love to see for guys who are still relatively under the radar entering a tournament.
The 33-year-old is on a great trajectory and must truly believe he can win – over the last three starts he finished T-27 at the Sony Open, T-14 at the American Express and T-6 last week at Pebble Beach.
Putnam also seemed to figure something out last year at TPC Scottsdale. He missed the cut in 2019 and 2020 before logging a T-7 with four consecutive sub-70 rounds a year ago. He’s one of the shorter players on Tour, but he keeps it in the fairway and that’s a big plus at this course.
We like the odds at BetMGM on Putnam for a top-10 finish at +700.

Waste Management Phoenix Open Betting Tips
This obviously isn’t one of the most difficult courses on Tour. But it’s more nuanced than some might think, with a few tricky greens. It’s rare for scores to reach 20-under for the week. So we do like guys who have been around the course a few times and understand those ins and outs, as well as how to deal with the insane crowds that can reach an overall attendance of 700,000 fans for the week.
Big distance off the tee isn’t a requirement, but keeping it in the fairway is important on several holes and well-placed drives make a huge difference on 17 and 18.
You don’t want to overthink it this week. Just look for guys who are playing well and have had a recent top-10 or two in this tournament and let it rip.
