Buckle up for two consecutive PGA Tour events at Muirfield Village Golf Club outside of Columbus, Ohio. This week’s Workday Charity Open replaces the John Deere Invitational, while the annual Memorial Tournament will be played the following week.

That means two weeks of golf betting in familiar territory. The course setup will be a little different this week, with shorter rough and slightly slower greens than normal. Guys will also be playing from different tee boxes, some of which they’ve probably never seen while playing in the Memorial.

Justin Thomas is the betting favorite for the first event at +1100. Defending champion Patrick Cantlay and Jon Rahm are next at +1300 while Brooks Koepka is fourth at +1500.

Here are our five best bets for the 2020 Workday Charity Open.

Rickie Fowler (-118) over Viktor Hovland

We’re big on Fowler’s chances this week. He’s worth a look at +3300 to win the whole thing. He’s gone T-14, T-8 and T-2 in his last three starts at Muirfield. He’s also trending up after a slow start and finished T-12 last week in Detroit. We’ll take him over Hovland, who’s making his Muirfield debut.

Byeong-Hun An (-137) over Brandt Snedeker

Our favorite bet of the tournament. We’re calling it a lock. An will be off the radar after a ho-hum T-46 last week, but he has been excellent at this golf course with four consecutive top-25s and a T-2 in 2018. Snedeker has five missed cuts and one WD in six starts here. We understand the setup is different this week but don’t think it will make a massive difference in terms of past performance. Hammer An in this matchup.

Hideki Matsuyama (-139) over Patrick Reed

Reed has been inconsistent since the restart with trouble finding fairways. Matsuyama turned it on over the weekend in Detroit, he’s a phenomenal irons player and the shaky putter won’t cost him as much at Muirfield. He won here in 2014 and has finished top-10 three times in six career starts. We like Matsuyama all day here.

Ryan Armour to finish top-10 (+850)

Workday Charity Open Odds, Props & Picks For PGA This Week 1

Armour’s riding a hot streak and has been good at Muirfield lately. He’s finished top-10 in each of his last two starts and will look to keep that momentum going this week in Ohio.

Justin Thomas (-130) over Jon Rahm

Thomas missed the cut here last year, but he was rushing back from a wrist injury and clearly not himself. Before that he was T-8 in 2018 and T-4 in 2017. Oddsmakers are giving him a lot of respect after a missed cut in his last start at the Travelers and we see why. Let’s go with Thomas over Rahm, who has cooled off significantly since the restart.

Emiliano Grillo to finish top-10 (+1100)

Feeling great about Grillo this week. This is a second-shot course and Grillo is one of the best iron players on Tour. Bad putting isn’t as big of a deal at Muirfield, where Grillo finished T-9 last year and no worse than T-40 in four career starts. Also trending in the right direction with a T-39 in Detroit.

Joaquin Niemann (+105) over Gary Woodland

Niemann didn’t quite have it last week but still made the cut. He was T-5 in his prior start at the RBC Heritage and the irons have been on point all season. He’s been very good in two prior starts at Muirfield and we expect that to continue.

Xander Schauffele (+110) over Jon Rahm

Workday Charity Open Odds, Props & Picks For PGA This Week 2

Schauffele has been very solid lately and finished T-14 here last year. We don’t mean to pick on Rahm with two matchup bets against him, but we’d like to see more out of his game and the price is right this week on Schauffele.

Henrik Norlander top Continental European finisher (+1000)

Love these odds! The main competition here is Rahm, Viktor Hovland and Rory Sabbatini. All three are expected to play well this week, but Norlander can hang. He’s a combined 22-under-par in his last two tournaments and playing steady golf. We’d much rather go with +1000 odds against a much smaller pool of competition here than bet Norlander to finish top-10 at +1400.

Rickie Fowler to win outright (+3300)

We’re normally not big on betting outright winners. But we nailed the DeChambeau pick at the Rocket Mortgage. Let’s go with Fowler this time at +3300. Everything’s moving in the right direction, he’s way more under-the-radar than usual and has a fantastic course history. Fowler gets it done on Sunday.
