The Zurich Classic in New Orleans took a bold step by changing to a two-man team format in 2017. It paid off in a big way with increased interest, stronger fields and a spot as the most unique PGA Tour stop on the calendar.

Now it’s the turn of golf betting fans to cash in this week as the usual suspects pair up with all sorts of Zurich Classic betting lines and props available for the action at TPC Louisiana.

Zurich Classic Expert Picks & Predictions

Louis Oosthuizen/Charles Schwartzel over Max Homa/Talor Gooch (-102, FanDuel)

We have to back the experience here. Homa and Gooch are good friends and they’re both playing well. Team chemistry should be great. We’re big fans of both. In this case, we’re fading them because Oosthuizen and Schwartzel have teamed up for four Presidents Cup matches and two Zurich Classics already. They finished T-3 in this event in 2018. This can be a tough event for guys who aren’t used to the format, which we don’t have to worry about with one of these groups. We’re on Oosthuizen/Schwartzel over Homa/Gooch at FanDuel .

How are Teams selected for the Zurich Classic?

The Zurich Classic is comprised of 80 two-man teams. The first 80 players qualify for the tournament via the PGA Tour’s priority ranking. That player is then allowed to choose any other player with Tour status as his teammate for the week. They can also choose a player who receives a sponsor invite, as Brooks Koepka did in 2019 by teeing it up with his brother, Chase Koepka.

There’s no formal selection process – players can choose friends on Tour, past partners, recruit a teammate via social media, etc. This leads to a wide variety of pairings based on how the top 80 choose a partner. It also brings an additional element of strategy you never as players try to build the strongest two-man team however possible.

Where is the Zurich Classic?

The Zurich Classic takes place at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana, near New Orleans.

TV: CBS (3-6 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday), Golf Channel (3:30-6:30 p.m. ET Thursday and Friday; 1-3 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday)
