The Indiana Pacers were left for dead when Victor Oladipo suffered a ruptured right quad in January. But instead of fading, Nate McMillan’s group stayed afloat, went 15-19 and made it to the postseason. Oladipo is out for the early portion of the season, but the 2020 Pacers will be improved in a number of areas. They’re a contender in the top-heavy East.
Here’s the key odds available and how you should bet them:
Pacers Win-Total Betting
The Line: 47.5 with SugarHouse
The Pacers lost Bojan Bogdanovic (Jazz) and Darren Collison (retired) but added Malcolm Brogdon, a significant piece for a team that will begin the year without Oladipo. Still, there will be early struggles before their All-Star returns, which means they’ll need a strong second half to get to 48 wins.
The Bet: Back the under. We think they’ll just miss the mark.
Pacers Central Division Odds
The Line: +400 with DraftKings
Indiana is a playoff team, but they’re a clear tier below the Milwaukee Bucks. Milwaukee is the league’s biggest division favorite for a reason, and the Pacers really have no chance to keep up with the presumed top seed in the East.
The Bet: Avoid this bet.
Pacers Eastern Conference Odds
The Line: +1600 with FanDuel
If OIadipo returns to form, Myles Turner makes an All-Star leap and Brogdon fits in, the Pacers are good enough on both ends to make noise in the playoffs. A bet on the Pacers is a bet on Oladipo.
The Bet: A lot has to go right, but this may be worth a small wager just to see what they look like with a healthy Oladipo.
Pacers NBA Title Odds
The Line: +5000 with 888sport
This is probably too aggressive. Maybe the Pacers can hang in the East, but it’s tough to envision them going toe-to-toe with the winner of the West. Even in a best-case scenario, the Pacers don’t have a championship roster.
The Bet: You can safely avoid these odds.
Best Pacers Player Prop Bets
Turner has gotten better every year he’s been in the league. Last season it meant leading the NBA in blocks per game for the league’s No. 3 defense. After an impressive showing for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup, Turner could continue his rise as an elite interior defender.
The Bet: At these odds, for the reigning leader in blocks, it’s pretty good value.
