The 2021-22 season is a make-or-break campaign for the Indiana Pacers. At this point, it feels like Indiana is stuck in mud when it comes to truly competing in the Eastern Conference. Although on paper they have a strong roster, they have a lot of B-caliber players.
They have no true star who could elevate the organization to new heights. The Pacers admitted their mistake after firing Nate Bjorkgren after one season as head coach, which led to a reunion with Rick Carlisle. After more than a decade away from the Pacers, Carlisle is back to help hopefully propel the Pacers into a team who could make a playoff run this season.
If the Pacers are unable to make real progress, they stand out as the one team poised for huge changes next offseason. Myles Turner has continuously floated in trade rumors for years, as his fit alongside Domantas Sabonis is clunky with two jumbo-sized bigs sharing the frontcourt. Malcolm Brogdon has also recently been involved in trade talks due to a very tradable contract.
T.J. Warren is entering the final year of his contract too. Indiana is very close to blowing up their current roster construction, so a lot is on the line for them this season.

Pacers Central Division Odds

Best Pacers Player Prop Bets

This is a very intriguing prop bet, especially with how negative I’ve been so far on Indiana’s season outlook. Myles Turner is one of the best rim protectors in the NBA, and he led the league in blocks per game last season. Turner only played half the season due to a lingering toe injury, which saw him fall out of the Defensive Player of the Year discussion. With Turner now fully healthy, he should once again be an underrated option to be in the DPOY race. Turner ranks fifth in NBA odds behind Rudy Gobert, Ben Simmons, Anthony Davis, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Bet: Turner at +850 odds to win Defensive Player of the Year is a worthy flier to take. If Turner leads the league in blocks, plus the Pacers make the playoffs, he should at least be a strong finalist for the award.
