Manuel Pellegrini would have preferred a kinder set of fixtures but an inability to collect any points from West Ham’s first three games means that the London side sit bottom of the Premier League.

Tuesday night’s EFL Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon at least represents an opportunity for the Hammers to restore some confidence, with the Chilean likely to field a strong team for this match against League One opponents.

It should be noted that West Ham played pretty well when losing 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium and were undone by some sloppy defending after initially taking the lead against Arsenal.

Felipe Anderson was a particularly impressive performer for the Hammers, with Marko Arnautovic also looking sharp and scoring an excellent opener, while Carlos Sanchez made a first start and could turn out for this clash.

Pellegrini might look to use some of his fringe players, with Lucas Perez, Andriy Yarmolenko and Javier Hernandez among those bidding to start the game and demonstrate their capabilities to a new manager.

As for Wimbledon, they are a modest League One team who could be scrapping against the drop this season, especially after losing Lyle Taylor to Charlton.

The Dons sit fifteenth in the table and won at Portsmouth in the last round of the competition, although they have lost their previous two home matches and conceded a sum total of five goals.

Rather than back the West Ham win, we will go for the Hammers to claim a victory with a -1 handicap which means money back if their margin of victory is by a single goal.
