Seven points have been landed by both teams after their first three Championship matches of the season, with Aston Villa and Brentford looking to land a top six spot this term.

Indeed, for the former, automatic promotion would be just the ticket after a near-miss last season where Steve Bruce’s team were beaten in the play-off final by Fulham.

It’s been a summer of uncertainty at the Midlands club although things are looking rosier with Bruce still at the helm and retaining Jack Grealish is an unexpected bonus considering that Tottenham were serious about signing him.

Villa have beaten Hull and Wigan before a 1-1 draw at Ipswich, with seven goals scored but also four conceded. Jonathan Kodjia was back in the team at Portman Road and perhaps he will shine brightly at this level as he has done previously for Bristol City.

Brentford are a slightly more unfashionable club although they certainly tick the progressive box under Dean Smith, someone who did well with Walsall previously.

The Bees have enjoyed straightforward home wins against Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday which sandwiched a 1-1 draw at Stoke, with eight goals plundered in these three games.

Therefore, it makes sense to go down the goals route in this game and we’ll back both teams to score and Over 3.5 Goals.
