It’s been a decent season for Manchester City thus far despite some mixed results in the Champions League and Premier League, not to mention another injury to Sergio Aguero and speculation linking Pep Guardiola with Manuel Pellegrini’s job.

The Chilean continues to conduct himself impeccably and he can engineer a comfortable win against a Hull team who have momentarily lost their way in the Championship and look there for the taking.

It doesn’t take a genius to tip City to win this game although it should be noted that they demolished Crystal Palace in the previous round when fielding a strong team and Pellegrini will want to get the job done with a quality side in this one.

Sergio Aguero was only given 64 minutes against Southampton and should open this match although David Silva, Jesus Navas and Wilfried Bony are all looking to come back in as Pellegrini looks to make some minor changes.

As for Hull, they were beaten 2-0 at home to Derby on Friday where the Rams shot into an early lead and were able to hold out against a Tigers side that had previously drawn 1-1 at Bristol City.

Steve Bruce’s team are still in good shape in the Championship and have kept the nucleus of the side that came down from the Premier League last term, although they looked a bit toothless against Derby.

Abel Hernandez had a modest impact in the top flight and might struggle to compete against the City defence, while the home side should have the lion’s share of possession and will make this a comfortable passage to the two-legged semi-finals.
