So far, so good for Brighton & Hove Albion who have won their two Championship matches at the AMEX Stadium while landing a point at both the iPro Stadium and the Madejski Stadium.

An average of two points per match should be enough to seal automatic promotion, with a confidence boost coming in the form of Tuesday’s 4-2 League Cup win at Oxford although the first team will be back in force for this crunch clash.

It’s a tricky assignment for a Seagulls team who came so close to reaching the Premier League last term and Chris Hughton will want an improved performance on the one that saw Brighton draw 2-2 at Reading a week ago.

Hughton was disappointed by the performance overall, with the Sussex side conceding their first Championship goals of the campaign although they should be a lot tighter against a team who are much-changed since their relegation last term.

Newcastle opened the season with consecutive defeats against Fulham and Huddersfield, although that has been followed by two wins, with Reading easily beaten before a slender victory at Bristol City.

Ayoze Perez scored his first goals of the season against Cheltenham during the week, with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle bidding to return to the fold after sustaining injuries in the League Cup match.

Gayle has four goals to his name already although he has an opposite number in Glenn Murray who has scored three times and will be looking to get back on the goal trail.

Ultimately, Brighton have earned a point on their road trips so far this season and there’s little reason to see them losing many matches this term.

David Stockdale is a safe pair of hands and the defence continues to be robustly marshalled by Lewis Dunk, while there is plenty of protection from Steven Sidwell and Baram Kayal.

It’s not a team of superstars but they generally achieve what they set out to.
