Bolton have come alive at precisely the right time of the season! After a poor January and February, Phil Parkinson’s side have strung together three consecutive victories and are now in the box seat to land promotion to the Championship.

Wanderers have had to contend with the sale of star forward Zach Clough to Nottingham Forest along with Sammy Ameobi returning to Newcastle from his loan spell, although Adam Le Fondre has filled the void.

Four goals in three games has made a big difference, with Bolton landing a 4-2 victory at Fleetwood before a 4-0 thrashing of Gillingham. They then overcame a stubborn Northampton side on Saturday.

Victory here would move the Lancashire side four points clear of the chasing pack although it won’t be easy against an Oxford side who are ninth in the table and harbour promotion ambitions of their own.

The U’s can move to within two points of the play-offs with a win and Michael Appleton’s side have won ten of their last fifteen games although strangely the other five games have resulted in defeat.

Both sides will go for the win here although the superior quality of Bolton should end up winning the day, with Josh Vela a definite star of the future and Le Fondre finding the net on a regular basis.

Mark Beevers and David Wheater are a strong central defensive partnership for the visitors and you just get the feeling that the momentum is now with Parkinson’s men.
