It’s very easy to be confident about a team winning their World Cup match and then regretting the bet after twenty minutes when the scoreline is goalless and the game is cagey.

The clash between Portugal and Spain could fit this bill, with the latter trading at odds-on to beat their Iberian cousins although it’s not a match where one should be too confident of a La Roja victory.

A draw wouldn’t be a bad result for either side ahead of further Group B clashes against Morocco and Iran, with Portugal looking to avoid defeat and Fernando Santos is likely to deploy a defensive game plan.

While the Portuguese won Euro 2016, the group games at that tournament all ended in a draw and one can see the outsiders looking to Cristiano Ronaldo for inspiration but otherwise keeping things tight.

Spain are an impressive collection of players who thumped Argentina 6-1 in a recent friendly and Julen Lopetegui’s side were dominant in qualifying without needing a prolific striker.

There are so many talented attacking midfielders in the squad although Spain have often wobbled in a tournament opener despite kicking on to do very well, with a bore draw potentially on the cards.
