This fixture can often be tasty and the stakes are typically high for this clash at White Hart Lane, where Tottenham will be looking to not only beat a London rival but also effectively dismiss them from the top four reckoning.

Chelsea are languishing in fifteenth place after barely averaging more than a point per match, with the Blues pretty poor on the road where they have lost four of their six Premier League encounters.

However, there are now signs that the champions are riding out the storm after back-to-back Champions League wins over Dynamo Kyiv and Maccabi Tel Aviv. They also beat Norwich last weekend and were unlucky to lose at Stoke in their last domestic outing.

The 4-0 demolition of Maccabi was just what the doctor ordered even if John Terry is likely to miss this match, something which may or may not be a negative considering many fans prefer Kurt Zouma these days.

Tottenham don’t have much prep time for this game. Mauricio Pochettino took the majority of first-teamers to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday and that means an early morning arrival back to London on Friday.

Dele Alli will also be missing suspended for the clash and perhaps the bookies are overrating the chances of a team who have been held by Stoke City, Liverpool and Everton this season.

Jose Mourinho can’t quibble with the players at his disposal, with Eden Hazard, Nemanja Matic and Willian all impressing in Israel and we should enjoy the chance to back Chelsea at such a big price against a team who are still a work in progress.
