Jurgen Klopp has been hailed as a borderline Messiah at Anfield, with the German arriving in Liverpool after Brendan Rodgers was given his marching orders.

All eyes will be on Klopp to see how he gets this Liverpool team performing although the Reds have to be filed under “work in progress” given that the new gaffer has had just a handful of days to work with most of his new charges who are returning from international duty.

Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson are currently sidelined with injury, while Roberto Firmino and Dejan Lovren are also missing this match and Christian Benteke might be short of sharpness.

It’s not exactly a positive for Klopp who will work on a way of counteracting a dangerous Tottenham Hotspur team who made short of Manchester City three weeks ago after falling behind in that match.

Mauricio Pochettino is quietly going about his business at White Hart Lane and a victory in this game would propel them into the top four, with Dele Alli having enjoyed a bright start to the campaign and Harry Kane one of the liveliest forwards in the Premier League.

The Argentine will consider this a good time to be facing Liverpool as they adjust to life under Klopp and there is every chance that a robust Spurs defence can live with Daniel Sturridge who might find himself isolated in attack as has happened to a front man in the majority of Reds away games.

Having defeated Crystal Palace and Manchester City, then this assignment looks marginally easier on paper, with the visitors short of so many quality players, while Pochettino will hope to welcome back Ryan Mason in midfield for this encounter.
