Carlos Alcaraz vs Matteo Berrettini

Carlos Alcaraz matches his best Wimbledon run, reaching the R16 behind a four-set win over Chile’s Nicolas Jarry. Next up for the World No. 1 is former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini, who defeated Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) after a rain-disrupted Saturday afternoon and a court change.

The Spanish star boasts a 2-1 head-to-head edge over Berrettini. The Italian, however, came away the 6-2, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 2-6, 7-6 (5) winner at the 2022 Australian Open -- their only meeting at a Grand Slam.

A lot has happened since their thriller Down Under. While injuries and Covid-19 disrupted Berrettini’s progress over the last 18 months, Alcaraz soared to the top of the game in the interim, winning multiple Masters titles, and, even, his maiden Grand Slam title at the 2022 US Open.

Berrettini entered Wimbledon in doubtful form on the back of limited match play (7-7 on the season). That he’s found his feet on the lush lawns of the All England Club is a credit to his prowess on grass. But that in of itself doesn’t quash the doubts that preceded him entirely.

Form matters. It begets confidence, which is crucial in these kinds of big matches. Thus, the outcome is quite rightly on the Spaniard’s racquet as evinced by the tennis odds. It’s his match to win or lose.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Alcaraz to win -275 at BetMGM

Christopher Eubanks vs Stefanos Tsitsipas

American Christopher Eubanks will look to extend his Cinderella run at SW19 when he takes on two-time major finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas in Monday’s fourth-round action.

Eubanks sprung the upset over Cameron Norrie, last year’s Wimbledon semi-finalist, in the R64. Then, he backed it up with a straight-set victory over Christopher O’Connell in the third round.

Admittedly, it’s been a tough slog for Tsitsipas in the early rounds. Not only did he fall into a tough section of the draw, which pit him against back-to-back former major champions Dominic Thiem and Andy Murray, but the combination of rain delays and Wimbledon’s 11 p.m. curfew have seen him play matches every single day over the last four days.

Experience and top credentials underscore Tsitsipas’ favorable odds to win. Nevertheless, he faces an uphill battle against the American.

Eubanks’ serve and ability to fire one-handed backhand winners, reminiscent of Roger Federer, are a couple of tangible advantages that give him an edge on grass – the Greek’s least favored surface. At the very least, he should give Tsitsipas a run for his money if not deliver the upset.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Eubanks to win +265 at Caesars

Daniil Medvedev vs Jiri Lehecka

Daniil Medvedev overcame a spirited Marton Fucsovics on Saturday, rallying from a set down to clinch the victory and book his place in the R16 for the second time in his career.

The Russian has never made it past this point at SW19, and after a subpar grass swing (by his lofty standards), few believed he’d get to the fourth round never mind beyond.

Whether Medvedev makes his first Wimbledon quarterfinal this year remains to be seen, though the bookmakers like his chances against Jiri Lehecka to accomplish the feat.

The 21-year-old Czech is an exciting talent, who has shown definite promise since making it into the quarterfinals of the 2023 Australian Open – his second career major appearance.

Lehecka’s game looks well suited to the demands of the faster grass courts. In addition, he’s shown an inclination to serve and volley – a rare skill in today’s game but a great skill to have on grass nonetheless.

Yes, Lehecka was involved in a five-set thriller to overcome Tommy Paul in the R32 on Saturday. But finding a way to back Lehecka as the outside bet here is tempting, especially given Medvedev’s record at Wimbledon and recent struggles.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Over 37.5 -116 at FanDuel

Ons Jabeur vs Petra Kvitova

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova can’t be overlooked in the broad spectrum of Wimbledon betting.

The statuesque Czech established herself as a real threat to win another major title on her beloved grass following a resurgent title-winning run at the Grass Court Championships in Berlin last month. And she’s soaked up the pressure, showing off her big match temperament to reach the R16 at the All England Club for the seventh time in her career.

Kvitova will face a stern test from last year’s Wimbledon runner-up Ons Jabeur. Both players are on tremendous form and go into this scintillating contest brimming with confidence. Though Kvitova leads their head-to-head 4-1, which includes a victory in the first round of the 2019 Wimbledon Championships.

The betting sites only narrowly favor Kvitova over Jabeur on the moneyline. A better indicator of just how close the markets are projecting this matchup is the 1.5 games handicap. It is literally a tossup for tennis picks between them.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Kvitova to win -138 at bet365

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Elena Rybakina

After surviving an early first-round scare, Elena Rybakina has looked every bit of the reigning Wimbledon champion and she sweeps into the R16 following a 6-1, 6-1 drumming of British hopeful Katie Boulter.

In Beatriz Haddad Maia, Rybakina will face a completer and more compact player. Having reached her first major semi-finals at Roland Garros will prepare Haddad Maia for the overwhelming challenge against the Kazakh.

The Brazilian’s game adapts well to grass. She has a solid serve, powerful groundstrokes and knows when to attack the net. But she doesn’t half make it easy for herself. Indeed, she’s had to rally from a set down twice already. Only her 6-2, 6-2 win over Sorana Cirstea in the third round was straightforward.

If there’s a downside to the Brazilian, it’s her penchant for slow starts. She can get away with it against lesser opponents, but not against a player like Rybakina.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Rybakina -4.5 +100 at FanDuel

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Aryna Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka recovered from a shaky R64 performance to defeat Anna Blinkova 6-2, 6-3 in the third round. She next takes on Ekaterina Alexandrova in the R16, a dark horse contender that has won three of their five meetings, including a 7-5. 6-0 decision in the s’Hertogenbosch final (grass) last year.

Although that was then. Well, in advance of Sabalenka’s triumphant title-winning run at the Australian Open that kick started her banner 2023 season. This should be a right cracker as implied by the 3.5 games handicap currently trading on the tennis odds board.

Alexandrova arrives in London on the back of a solid grass-court swing. She successfully defended her Den Bosch title last month and then reached the semifinals in Berlin.

Even if the Russian outsider is unable to spring the upset, don’t be surprised if the final outcome touches the sides of the projected 21.5 games total.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Over 21.5 -125 at Caesars
