Noche UFC Main Event Best Bet

Valentina Shevchenko (-185) vs. Alexa Grasso (+155)

The UFC women’s flyweight title is on the line when Valentina Shevchenko takes on Alexa Graso. Shevchenko is a -185 UFC betting favorite, with the odds on Grasso set at +155. Although Grasso is the champion, she is the underdog here, and I think there is value in her winning.

Grasso is only 30 years old and she has won her last five fights in a row, including a submission win over Shevchenko in her last bout. Although the Mexican was known for her boxing throughout most of her career, she has really turned into a well-rounded MMA fighter these last few years.

Her grappling skills won her the belt and gave her the X-factor to be a long-time defending champion. While many believe it was a fluke she beat Shevchenko the first time, a second win over the former champ would surely silence the doubters for Grasso going forward.

Shevchenko is the greatest women’s flyweight of all time, but at age 35, the Kyrgyzstan fighter appears to be in the decline phase of her UFC career. She just lost by submission to Grasso in her last fight, and in the bout prior to that one, she won a controversial split decision over Taila Santos.

Although she is still a tremendous striker with slick grappling chops, she appears beatable these days, especially when it comes to the ground game. There is no doubt that Shevchenko has the tools to win this fight, But it’s possible that her best days are behind her.

I did pick Shevchenko to win the first fight, but I like Grasso in the rematch. She’s more in her prime than Shevchenko is, and I like her to once again surprise with a second upset win over one of the greatest women’s fighters of all time. Take Grasso to win this rematch as a +155 underdog and defend her belt in the process, and I believe she will win by decision this time.

Other Noche UFC Best Bets

Daniel Zellhuber (-240) vs. Christos Giagos (+195)

A lightweight match sees rising prospect Daniel Zellhuber take on veteran Christos Giagos. Zellhuber is a -240 betting apps favorite, and I like him to get his hand raised in this fight.

The UFC signed Zellhuber after an impressive win on Dana White’s Contender Series, but he laid an egg in his debut last year and lost a decision to Trey Ogden.

However, he bounced back with a decision win over veteran Lando Vannata in his last bout. At only 24 years of age, the young Mexican prospect has a bright future in the world’s top MMA promotion. He is an excellent striker with solid takedown defense, giving him a chance to really become something special in the UFC. With another win over Giagos, Zellhuber would really set himself up nicely.

As for Giagos, he has been in the UFC on and off for nearly a decade now, going 6-6 overall in the promotion. The 33-year-old American is coming off of a brutal knockout win over Ricky Glenn in his last fight, which was one of the most impressive victories of his career to date.

It was also a much-needed win for Giagos, as he had lost two straight bouts before that. Giagos is a slick grappler with improved striking, but he’s also someone who we have seen lose many times in the UFC. Against Zellhuber, it looks like another tough fight against a younger fighter.

Although Giagos has more UFC experience, he’s very inconsistent and he’s now taking on a prospect who now has his feet wet in the UFC. Although Zellhuber hasn’t blown the doors off in the UFC just yet, I do like his game quite a bit and believe he will keep making moves at 155 lbs.

In this bout, I like Zellhuber to keep this fight on the feet and get Giagos out of there with a knockout. The fact he has six inches of reach, three inches of height, and is nine years younger helps, too. Go with Zellhuber to win this bout on the moneyline at -240 and take him by TKO.

Roman Kopylov (-305) vs. Josh Fremd (+245)

The middleweights go at it when Roman Kopylov takes on Josh Fremd. Kopylov is a -305 betting favorite, and I fully expect him to come away with the victory in this bout.

Kopylov is a 32-year-old Russian striker who has looked phenomenal in his last three fights, winning all of them by brutal knockout. He has some of the most technical striking at 185 lbs and he has huge power as well.

After losing his first two UFC fights, Kopylov has won three straight. He looks like a serious contender in the UFC middleweight division and another big knockout win over Fremd would more than likely earn him a ranked opponent in the top 15.

Fremd is just 2-2 in the UFC and he hasn’t looked particularly good overall inside the Octagon. In his last fight, Fremd defeated Jamie Pickett in a snore of a fight, and afterward, he wasn’t sure if the UFC was going to sign him. In the end, he did get a new contract, but he had to accept this short-notice fight against Kopylov.

Although Fremd is a pretty good wrestler, his chin is an issue and he is now going up against one of the most dangerous strikers at middleweight.

Look for Kopylov to keep this fight standing, and on the feet, I think he will light up Fremd and score a highlight-reel knockout in the first or second round. Take Kopylov to win on the moneyline at -305 odds, and take him to win by knockout if you want to bet on a prop.
