UFC Qatar Main Event Best Bet
Arman Tsarukyan (-550) vs. Dan Hooker (+410)
The main event of UFC Qatar is a five-round lightweight bout between Arman Tsarukyan and Dan Hooker. Tsarukyan is a -550 favorite, and, as the odds suggest, I like him to win this fight.
Tsarukyan is 29, and he is 9-2 in the UFC. The Armenian fighter joined the UFC in 2019, losing to the legendary Islam Makhachev in his debut. Since then, he has won nine of his last 10 fights inside the Octagon, with his only loss since then being a controversial decision defeat to top contender Mateusz Gamrot. Tsarukyan is one of the top grapplers in the UFC lightweight division, and he often takes his opponents down to the mat and beats them up there. He also has knockout power on the feet, making him a very dangerous fighter in the weight class. With an impressive win here over Hooker, Tsarukyan could be next in line for a lightweight title fight.
Hooker is 35, and he is 14-8 in the UFC. The New Zealand native has been in the UFC since 2014, and he has been a top contender at both featherweight and lightweight since then. He moved up to 155 lbs in 2017, and he has been one of the best fighters in the weight class ever since he made that decision. Hooker is an extremely violent fighter who has great striking skills and knockout power on the feet. He is also known for his toughness and his conditioning, plus, generally, he has good takedown defense. However, he has yet to beat an elite contender such as Tasrukyan, and this fight represents arguably the toughest test of his UFC career to date.
Although Hooker has good takedown defense on paper, I just can’t see him stopping the relentless wrestling attack of Tsarukyan over the course of 25 minutes. Look for Tsarukyan to get takedowns at key moments in the fight and grind out Hooker on the mat to win rounds, potentially finishing later on. Take Tsarukyan to win plus over 1.5 rounds SGP for -160 odds.

Other UFC Qatar Best Bets
Ian Machado Garry (-270) vs. Belal Muhammad (+220)
The co-main event of UFC Qatar is a welterweight bout featuring Ian Machado Garry and Belal Muhammad. Machado Garry is a -270 favorite, and I believe he will win this fight.
Machado Garry is 28, and he is 9-1 in the UFC. The Irishman joined the UFC in 2021, and outside of a decision loss to top contender Shavkat Rakhmonov last year, he has beaten everyone in his path so far. He is one of the top technical strikers in the UFC welterweight division, as his ability to outland his opponents without taking much damage in return is at the top of his class. He also has solid takedown defense. At only 28, Machado Garry is the future of the UFC welterweight division and someone who could fight for the belt in the next year or two.
Muhammad is 37, and he is 15-4, 1 NC in the UFC. The American is the former UFC welterweight champion, having defeated Leon Edwards last year to take the title before dropping it in his first title defense to Jack Della Maddalena. Muhammad is one of the top wrestlers in the UFC welterweight division, plus his striking skills have improved quite a bit over the years. However, Muhammad is starting to get up there in age, and he took a ton of damage in his last fight. Going up against a young striker once again, the same thing could happen here.
I see Machado Garry stuffing the majority of Muhammad’s takedowns, keeping this fight on the fight, and outlanding him with punches and kicks to win a decision. The fact that this fight is only three rounds favors Machado Garry even more in this matchup, in my opinion. Go with Machado Garry to win this fight by decision at -120 for a best bet.

Shamil Gaziev (-142) vs. Serghei Spivac (+120)
We have a heavyweight bout between Shamil Gaziev and Serghei Spivac. Gaziev is a -142 favorite, and I expect him to win this fight by stoppage.
Gaziev is 35, and he is 3-1 in the UFC. The Russian earned a UFC contract after a win on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023, and thus far, he has parlayed it into a nice run inside the Octagon, with three wins in four tries. Gaziev is a finisher who has stopped his opponents in 12 of his 14 career victories. He has big knockout power and solid takedown defense as well, which allows him to keep his fights on the feet, where he can look to land the finishing blow.
Spivac is 30, and he is 8-6 in the UFC. The Moldovan joined the UFC in 2019, and he has been a mainstay in the top-15 rankings since then. He is a terrific grappler who is often able to get his opponents down to the mat, where he does his best work on the floor with submissions. On the feet, he has some power in his hands, but he doesn’t have a great chin, having been knocked out four times. If he can’t get Gaziev down to the floor, he will be at risk of being KO’d again.
Look for Gaziev to keep this fight standing, outstrike Spivac, and eventually find the knockout punch. Take Gaziev to win as a -142 favorite, and look for the prop on Gaziev to win by TKO.
