This makes for a more competitive market once the favourite is taken out, with the field often left wide open. You can win with this bet even if your selection doesn’t triumph, as long as it beats every other runner aside from the favourite in your nominated race.

Forecast and Tricast

A forecast bet involves a customer predicting the horses that are going to finish first and second in a particular race. A tricast involves going one step further and forecasting the horses that will finish first, second and third.

You can either go for a straight forecast and tricast, which involves your selections finishing in a specific order. Alternatively, a reverse forecast or tricast will mean you bet on the horses to finish in any order. Although this is involves doubling your stake for a reverse forecast, and multiplying it by six for a reverse tricast.
