The expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams means that, on paper, some of the more traditionally big teams have easier rides to the round of 32 and knockouts than might have been the case previously. That most certainly looks the case in Group H as Spain are the hot favourites to go through as group winners, and with good reason.
They are joined in the group by World Cup debutants Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. With potentially up to three teams to make it out of the group, every team has a decent chance to go deep in the tournament, even if most betting sites can’t see a way past Spain finishing top of the group.
They have flattered to deceive somewhat in the three most recent World Cups after their 2010 triumph, with a group-stage exit in 2014 followed by round-of-16 defeats in 2018 and 2022. However, La Rojo have been relentless in the European Championships with three tournament wins in the last five and given that they've been virtually unbeatable in recent times, they are understandably one of the favourites to go all the way.

The same can’t be said for Cape Verde, who will be making their first-ever appearance this this global extravaganza. They will be hoping that the additional eight third-place teams who qualify for the round of 32 gives them a fighting chance of making it to the next round.
Saudi Arabia caused one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history in 2022 when they defeated Argentina 2-1. Few would have predicted that Lionel Messi and Co. would then go on to win the tournament, while Saudi Arabia would fail to get out of the group stages. However, given that result and more teams qualify from groups, they aren’t completely ruled out of making the latter stages by top betting apps.
Uruguay are one of a select few nations to have won the World Cup more than once, alongside Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina and France. However, the last win was in 1950 after also lifting the inaugural Jules Rimet Trophy in 1930. Their more recent history hasn’t been so storied, with a group stage exit in 2022. Marcelo Bielsa is admired around the world for his management, and most bookies think they will be able to get out of the group this time around at the very latest.

Group H Betting Tips
Spain are expected to top the group, and in truth, there is very little that would dissuade us of that happening. However, as there are greater opportunities for teams to make it into the round of 32, with the eight best third-placed teams, Saudi Arabia could find a route out of the group. A draw against Uruguay and then knowing exactly what they need to do in their final game against Cape Verde could give them a decent chance of qualification.
