Manchester United still retain hopes of signing top summer transfer target Jadon Sancho and at least one major bookmaker believes their chances have improved this week.

United have made no secret of their desire to bring the 20-year-old Dortmund winger back to English football and the player himself is thought to be keen on the move.

With personal terms seemingly no issue, all that is standing in the way of United signing the former Manchester City youngster is the transfer fee, with the Premier League side yet to meet Dortmund’s demands.

The Bundesliga side set a deadline of August 10th for a transfer fee to be agreed upon, but over a month on no such agreement has been reached and BBC Sport reporter Simon Stone claims Dortmund are “increasingly confident” of retaining Sancho’s services.

However, online bookmakers BetVictor this week moved Sancho’s odds on being a Man Utd player by the end of the transfer window from 4/6 to 4/7, implying a 63.6% chance of completing a move in time.

That’s up from 60% (4/6) at the start of the week, and BetVictor aren’t alone in rating United’s chances of sealing the deal as better than 50-50, with Betfair offering a price of 8/11 (57.9%).

That said, other top betting apps are less confident in United’s ability to close out the saga this year, with William Hill (9/4), 888Sport (7/5) and 10Bet (9/5) all favouring Sancho to stay with Dortmund.

What is in little doubt is the fact that United are the only serious contenders for the player’s signature, with Man City next in the betting at 14/1 with RedZone to bring him back to the Etihad.

Paris-Saint Germain are also 14/1 while Chelsea, who were linked with the England international earlier this summer, are now big outsiders at 30/1 with Unibet.

United still have plenty of time to resurrect the deal, with the Premier League transfer window remaining open until October 5.
