After things looked to be going completely wrong at Celtic at the start of the season, somehow Martin O'Neill turned the ship round and managed to win the league title in the most dramatic fashion possible. Now Celtic have the tough task of trying to replace him - again.
Brendan Rodgers was shown the exit door and left the club with some sharp parting words from Celtic’s majority shareholder last October, Martin O'Neill was installed as interim manager until the club found a replacement. In December they plumped for Wilfred Nancy but he only lasted 33 days at the club before they turned back to O'Neill. With that recent history, it probably means a great deal of care will be taken picking his successor.
As a result, the best betting sites have priced up the market for who be the next Celtic manager. Former boss Ange Postecoglou is in the betting, along with Ipswich's Kieran McKenna, ex-players Sean Maloney and Robbie Keane, plus Motherwell's Jens Berthel Askou.

Robbie Keane Might Covet Celtic Role
Keane might have only had a short spell as a player at Celtic, with the former striker having turned out for the Hoops on 19 occasions. However, the brief spell was a successful one as he found the net on 16 occasions. The big question is whether Keane would want to give up his current role at Ferencvaros, which is going so well, to manage a club which looks all over the place at present.
Celtic do have a great history of Irish managers and Keane could want to add his name to that list. His time at Ferencváros has enhanced his reputation as a manager, even though they missed out on winning the league on the final day, which meant they failed to win the title for the first time in eight seasons. Despite that, fast withdrawal betting sites think he's a real candidate for the job.

Jens Berthel Askou
Not many people outside of Denmark, Sweden or the Faroe Islands - or perhaps Norwich - will have been too familiar with Jens Berthel Askou when he was announced as Motherwell coach in June last year. The Dane had enjoyed a fairly nondescript playing career, including his stop in East Anglia, before his biggest achievement in management being winning the Faroe Islands Premier League and cup with Havnar Bóltfelag in 2020.
However, he has impressed immensely with Motherwell this season, leading them to their highest finish since 2020 and their best points total since 2014. This is sure to lead to greater opportunities, and none would be greater than Celtic coming calling if he wanted to stay in Scotland.

Roberto Martinez
It’s been over a decade since Roberto Martinez was last in charge of a club team, having been fired from Everton in May 2016 before being somewhat of a surprise hire by the Belgium national side. His six-year tenure there included a World Cup semi-final in 2018 and reaching the quarter-finals of Euro 2020, but it ended with a whimper rather than a bang as the Red Devils crashed out in the 2022 World Cup group stages.
Martinez is currently manager of Portugal but his fate may be decided on how the country performs in the 2026 World Cup and a poor showing could lead to him being back on the market, with a host of clubs including Celtic likely to pounce.

Thomas Frank
Brentford are now established as an English Premier League side and that’s in no small part thanks to Thomas Frank. Frank guided them to the Championship playoffs in his first full season in charge, earning promotion second time round. Fast forward a few years and a handful of solid mid-table finishes with Brentford saw Frank appointed as Tottenham manager.
While his time at Spurs didn’t exactly go to plan, the Dane showed what he’s capable of when given plenty of time at the reins. With Celtic looking to firmly re-establish themselves as the dominant force in the SPL, rather than one that wins the title on the last day, there aren’t many names available at present with the kind of pedigree Frank has. He’s sure to be a popular choice on UK betting apps.

McKenna Could Replace O'Neill
We’re not far removed from Kieran McKenna being tipped for big Premier League jobs at the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham. But he still finds himself in charge of Ipswich, who are back in the Premier League following another promotion from the Championship.
He has the sort of profile Celtic will find appealing, being a young manager who’s made a very promising start to his career in the dugout. The opportunity to take charge of a team contending for trophies and playing European football instead of battling relegation could be too much for McKenna to turn down should Celtic come calling. Football betting sites reckon this is a possibility, based on the current odds.

Could Ange Postecoglou Return to Celtic?
It has been a long time in football terms since Ange was unceremoniously fired by Nottingham Forest, so Postecoglou may prove to be a popular hire for Celtic. The Aussie was in charge of Celtic for two seasons from 2021-2023, where he won five of the six available domestic trophies including a treble in his second campaign.
It remains to be seen whether his reputation took too much damage after being sacked by Spurs in summer and then lasting just 39 days at the Tricky Trees. Stepping back to the Scottish Premiership could be the logical move for the Angeball pioneer, and betting apps think he'll be on the shortlist.

Shaun Maloney A Popular Ex-Player
There aren’t many candidates who know the club better than Maloney, a former attacking midfielder who made 215 appearances for the Hoops. He was again installed as interim assistant manager to Martin O’Neill after Wilfred Nancy was sacked, so it wouldn’t take too big a leap to see him sitting in the hot seat in the near future.
However, he hasn’t been pulling up trees when in the big seat in his coaching career to date, with his time at Hibs and Wigan not amounting to much. It might be a step too far this early on to give him the job, even if some Apple Pay betting sites think he could be a genuine contender.
