Hearts came within a whisker of breaking up the Celtic and Rangers duopoly on Scottish football this year. They went into the final game of the season at Celtic Park knowing a draw or win would be enough for a first Scottish Premiership title since 1960.
Unfortunately, the inevitable Celtic broke their hearts, and it could be that Hearts fans are going to be in for more heartbreak. Star striker Lawrence Shankland has already joined Rangers, and it appears that manager Derek McInnes will be too. That means top betting sites have opened a market on who might replace him. It will be a tough act to follow, but there are some big names in the market.
Dutch manager Rene Hake is the current favourite at most football betting sites, but he is followed by Dick Schreuder, Robbie Keane, Liam Rosenior and Scott Parker.

Rene Hake Leads Betting Market
A fairly unknown name to most outside of the Netherlands, Rene Hake has been plying his trade for over 20 years in his home country as both a head coach and assistant. The 54-year-old has bounced around a number of clubs in the top two divisions of Dutch football including FC Twente, Utrecht and Go Ahead Eagles.
It’s been two years since Hake left Go Ahead Eagles to join Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, although his tenure only lasted five months there, and now Hake is on the hunt for a new job after his spell as an assistant at Feyenoord ended when Robin van Persie departed in June. Hearts could be the perfect opportunity for Hake to get back into management, and top betting apps think he is a viable contender.

Would Schreuder Want to Move From Eredivisie?
Another name unfamiliar to most over here, Dick Schreuder has put together a stellar coaching career so far with stints at VV Katwijk, PEC Zwolle, Castellón and NEC. Promotion back to the Eredivisie with PEC Zwolle was followed by getting Castellón back into the Segunda División. That caught the eye of those at NEC, who he led to a third place finish in the top flight and a Champions League qualification tie next season.
Those behind the scenes at Hearts are savvy operators, and the fact he has never won fewer than 51% of his matches at any of those four clubs won’t go unnoticed. He has taken every step up in his career in his stride, and going up against the big two in the Netherlands with an unfancied team will have caught the attention of the decision makers.

Robbie Keane Could be Perfect Fit for Scottish Return
Robbie Keane hasn’t taken a well-trodden path to his start in management with stints at ATK as a player-manager in India, followed by more successful jaunts to Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ferencvaros. At both the latter teams he won league and cup competitions, even though he left Ferencvaros this summer after they failed to win the title for the first time in seven seasons.
After those two stops, it would make sense for Keane to want to cut his teeth in more mainstream football to get more eyeballs on his achievements. Hearts would appear to be a good stepping stone, but will his previous short stint at Celtic mean he’d be fighting against the tide right from the very start? It won't be forgotten how Hearts lost the Scottish Premiership title last season.
