Next QPR Manager Odds

Queens Park Rangers sacked Mark Critchley after 12 matches and they are now searching for someone who can ensure that they aren't relegated from the Championship this season. The team have been plummeting down the table at a rate of knots and they need someone to arrest the slump.

It might be the case that Gareth Ainsworth returns to Loftus Road and ends his long tenure with Wycombe Wanderers to take charge at his former club. The best betting apps think that it's heavily likely that we'll see him in the dug out soon, with his price continuing to shorten.

Ainsworth Heads QPR Betting

Gareth Ainsworth has done a brilliant job with Wycombe Wanderers and they remain one of the most competitive teams in League One, having been beaten by Sunderland in the play-off final last term.

The 49-year-old has been in charge at Adams Park since 2012 and the Chairboys are currently seventh in the third tier, with a realistic chance of qualifying for the play-offs this season and returning to the second flight although Queens Park Rangers holds a place in his heart.

After all, Ainsworth made 141 appearances for the Hoops as a player between 2003 and 2010. After this, he made a century of appearances for Wycombe, although perhaps he might feel now is the time to come to Rangers' rescue even if leaving Adams Park would be a huge wrench.

Nathan Jones Drifts in QPR Manager Betting

Nathan Jones started the season in charge of Luton Town and it appeared that the Hatters were potentially going to reach the Championship play-offs at the second time of asking under the Welshman.

However, when Southampton came calling, the Welshman jumped ship and his time at St Mary's was short-lived. Jones failed to get a tune out of the Saints and he now finds himself out of work but surely not too short of offers.

Queens Park Rangers might be prepared to take a chance on someone who has proved to be a divisive character although you can't knock his achievements with Luton Town and he might relish the opportunity to make an immediate return to management.

Derry Could Be a Viable QPR Candidate

Like Gareth Ainsworth, Shaun Derry is someone with Queens Park Rangers connections. The 45-year-old made 92 appearances for the London side between 2010-13 and perhaps he could be open to returning to Loftus Road after a hiatus from the dugout.

Derry took charge of Notts County between 2013-2015, while he then enjoyed a spell in charge of Cambridge United between 2015-18. He then enjoyed a spell as first-team coach of Oxford United before heading to Crystal Palace in September 2019 to work for the academy there.

Would Rowett Consider Leaving Millwall for QPR?

Gary Rowett has a wealth of Championship managerial experience, and the 48-year-old is certainly well regarded at The Den. The Millwall boss steered the Lions close to the Championship play-off spots last term and will be hoping to build on that success this season.

However, it's possible that QPR will have a bigger budget to sign better players, and Rowett is no stranger to switching between clubs. He has had managerial spells with Birmingham, Stoke and Derby already, with the former Rams defender clearly open to managerial vacancies that become available.

Would Eustace Be a Pick for QPR?

John Eustace has been linked with the Queens Park Rangers manager’s position before, with the 42-year-old having previously been part of the coaching setup. He was the assistant manager from 2018 onwards and also had two stints as caretaker boss.

More recently, Eustace was made assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland national team, although the current Birmingham City boss could be open to the prospect of taking the reins on a permanent basis at a club that he knows well.

Robinson, Sherwood and Hughton Also Among Betting Outsiders

Despite having a wealth of managerial experience, Karl Robinson is only 41. He started out as the manager of MK Dons in 2010 and spent six seasons in charge before spending two further seasons in the dugout at Charlton Athletic during what was a fractious time at the club. He is now in charge of Oxford United but might apply for the QPR role.

Tim Sherwood has been out of football management since 2015, although he has been linked to the possibility of returning to the dugout with QPR. It would be interesting to see if the media pundit is interviewed or whether that ship has sailed.

Chris Hughton would be a more viable contender, although the fact that Nottingham Forest have blossomed so much since he left this season doesn’t bode well for his chances. It’s possible that he can still sell himself as someone who can do a job with the right resources.
