The obvious starting point for many punters at betting apps was Gerwyn Price. He was the favourite to win with most new betting sites but his run of no being able to win a televised ranking event since 2021 continued. Price was eliminated by Gary Anderson in the first knockout stage.  

It’s taken a while for Luke Humphries to establish himself since winning the World Youth Championship in 2019. A semi-final finish in the 2022 edition of this tournament has been a springboard to success for the Englishman. Since then, he’s made the semis of the Players Championship and the World Matchplay, before winning the World Grand Prix in October. Humphries is the favourite to land this title.

Humphries made it through his quarter-final against Gary Anderson, winning a close tussle 16-14. The world number four threw 13 maximums to Anderson's 10 in what was a fascinating night of darts which saw 61 of a possible 62 legs played. Humphries will now play James Wade who was pushed all the way by Josh Rock from Northern Ireland. 

Wade is ranked 14th in the world and Humphriess should continue his dominance over Wade. Humphries has won five of the last six meetings although Wade did come out on top in the most recent meeting in the European Championship. Wade is the 6/1 outsider with BetMGM to get his hands on the Eric Bristow trophy while Humphreys is the 4/5 favourite with BetMGM.

In the other semi-final, Rob Cross faces Stephen Bunting for a place in the final. Cross knows what it takes to win a major tournament, having done so to win the World Championship in 2018. He was expected to dominate the sport after that, but it's been tough for the world number nine from Hastings. Bunting has never reached the final of a major PDC tournament, but Coral have boosted odds of 4/1 from 10/3 for Bunting to hit 4 or more 100+ checkouts while Cross is 7/2 from 3/1 to have 4 or more 100+ checkouts.
