Tip 1 - 1:20 Cheltenham - Minella Study
Fresh from a 90-day break, Minella Study is expected to be primed and ready for his tilt at a Grade 1. An impressive winner over course and distance in December, his form has real substance to it. The runner up that day went on to finish second in the Fred Winter earlier this week, while the third has since placed in a pair of Grade 2’s. He’s taking on horses from much more powerful yards here and may be flying under the radar.

Tip 2 - 2:00 Cheltenham - Karbau
Paul Townend doesn’t ride many in handicaps, so when he does you need to pay attention, even more so in a race in which Willie Mullins has such a good record. The combination has won three of the last four of these and Karbau fits the profile of a winner perfectly. His first race in a handicap running off a mark of 150, he is much better than that and has a great chance.

Of the five times this race has been run, the indomitable Willie Mullins has claimed three victories and has a fantastic chance to add another with Dinoblue. After being edged out in 2024, the nine-year-old won it an absolute canter last year with victory by over eight lengths to justify 6/4 odds. She has gone 1211 in her four outings since last year’s win.

Tip 4 - 3:20 Cheltenham - Moneygarrow
The Albert Bartlett has been a graveyard for favourites over the years so our attention is drawn further up the market. This is a real test for horses so one proven over as far as possible is always a plus. Moneygarrow kept on well over three miles last time out beating the well fancied Call Me Hugo. Not many of these will stay up the hill but Moneygarrow should be right there.

Tip 5 - 4:00 Cheltenham - Haiti Couleurs
This year’s Gold Cup really looks to be anyone’s. Last year’s champion, Inothewayurthinkin, has had a dreadful season, while multiple winner Galopin Des Champs isn’t running. With so many unproven sorts in the lineup, Haiti Couleurs gets the nod. His stamina is assured, having won last year’s National Hunt Chase at the Festival over further. He’d appreciate any softness in the ground and could well prove a tough nut to crack if making this a thorough stamina test from the front.

Wrappedupinmay has enjoyed a successful season so far with a second and two wins in three PTPs, the latter of which came after switching trainers to Sam Cutling in December. What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
