Tip 1 - 12:27 Wincanton - Alright Dai

Alright Dai didn’t have the best summer with a pair of nothing results, but his form last season was excellent, winning the only two races he ran - both of which came over today’s distance and at the same grade. His result today is contingent on whether he can find that form of old, but at his price, he’s worth a punt.

Tip 2 - 12:50 Thurles - Found A Diamond

It could be worth chancing Found A Diamond to make further progress after he put in a career best effort over course and distance last time out. He seemed to relish the step up in trip, and the way he hit the line suggested he wasn’t hanging on. This does look like a tougher test, but there could be a bit more he can find resuming the partnership with Shane Markey, who also takes off a handy 7lb.

Tip 3 - 1:25 Thurles - Divaboriva

On paper, this should be a penalty kick for Place De La Nation, who finished fifth in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Today’s going is soft, though, not paper, so she is well worth taking on at the prices.

Divaboriva has plenty in her favour, albeit with a sizeable gulf in talent to bridge. She has the more proven stamina and a recent run, so fitness is assured. She’s worth a punt in the hope the favourite misfires or isn’t fully wound up on seasonal return.

Tip 4 - 2:30 Lingfield - Sunlit Uplands

The two protagonists at the top of the market are strong, especially Shuwari’s claims, but we’re hopeful that a return to the all-weather is just what Sunlit Uplands needs. Flopped in suboptimal conditions last time out in a Listed event, but finished just three lengths back in another Listed race prior to that in France. Has a win and a second from two on the all-weather and can continue smart progression here.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
