Nazario is one who stands out, particularly on the back of a course-and-distance fourth last month. Now six pounds lower having been sent off favourite and second favourite in two disappointing runs since, connections clearly think there’s mileage in his mark.

Tip 2 - 2:23 Pontefract - King Of Persia

After a debut year of forgettable outings, King Of Persia made the step up to 1m last month and has immediately found success with consecutive wins over that distance. Now on a hat-trick, the two-year-old takes on his stiffest challenge yet in this Class 5 as he runs under penalty for a victory last week at Leicester. This will give a better insight into his ability and is worth taking a chance on.

Tip 3 - 4:00 Plumpton - Nickelforce

Looked like he might have needed the run out on reappearance last time out when jumping less than fluently at Market Rasen. Still finished fewer than four lengths behind the winner, with the form franked after the second home bolted up by 23 lengths the following race. Wasn’t disgraced in a Grade 3 in July and is now just a pound higher than for a dominant win at Fakenham in May back in a Class 3. Beat one of today’s favourites by over three lengths in November last year giving away eight pounds and now in receipt of seven, he looks vastly overpriced.

Tip 4 - 4:30 Plumpton - Ez Tiger

Having won this race last year, it looks like Ez Tiger has been laid out for a repeat bid. He’s again had a couple of runs over the summer which haven’t amounted to much, but that was true when he won this race last year. Back off a break to freshen him up, he should give his running at a track he clearly enjoys racing at.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
