Treasure Islands picked up his first win in just his fifth race last time out in a 2m jaunt around Ripon, surprising some at 10/1, and he’s now expected to follow that up over the same distance. Tip 2 - 2:10 Catterick - Taaklam
Having shown some potential in his juvenile season, Taaklam has started life as a three-year-old with a pair of solid efforts for his new yard. Placing twice and going down by less than a length each time, he has a solid profile for a race like this. The two pound raise he received for his latest effort is offset by Ethan Tindall’s claim and he looks sure to run his race.

Tip 3 - 3:00 Haydock - Pointe Blue
Pointe Blue didn’t look tuned up for her debut run, and considering her pedigree, she should be capable of much better than that. Secret Of Life looked a bit more forward on her first racecourse visit, but it wasn’t the deepest-looking race she won. If Pointe Blue takes the stop forward that is expected she should be able to improve past her.

Tip 4 - 4:25 Musselburgh - Bellarchi
It’s difficult to ignore the course form of Bellarchi, who has won four from five round here, with the one flop coming on soft ground. Wasn’t helped by the wide draw at Chester last time out and comes back into the calmer waters of a Class 3. She’s getting close to maxing out with a rating of 91, but we think there is still room for a bit more improvement yet in this sphere.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
