Today’s opener at Royal Ascot looks little more than a lottery with 27 runners battling it out over just five furlongs, but Shining Moment stands out. She has been brought over from the USA after a pair of strong runs over there and Oisin Murphy being on board gives a clue over how she is expected to go. Her sire, Golden Pal, came second in the Norfolk Stakes here in 2020.

Tip 2 - 3:05 Ascot - Galiyan
Galiyan was all over the place on debut, throwing away his chance when not settling through the race. He looked much more professional next time out, settling early and putting the race to bed late powering through the line. He looks like he wants the extra distance he’s going to get today and with only two runs under his belt there is sure to be more improvement from him.

Tip 3 - 3:40 Ascot - Kon Tiki
Kon Tiki may be a four-year-old, but she hasn’t had much racing. In just five career runs, she’s already won at listed level and placed in another listed race. That placed effort came on her seasonal return last month, when she went down by under a length to the re-opposing Blue Bolt. There’s every reason to think she could improve for that run, with so few miles on the clock. She looks to be overpriced based on what she’s achieved.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
