Tip 1 - 3:15 Ayr - Star Cast

Star Cast comes back from six weeks off on a hat trick after successive wins in June, including one over course and distance. Her overall form the last few races reads 163113211, with the latter five on turf and those last two wins were extremely convincing, combining for a winning margin of over nine lengths. She’s up at a career high mark of 80 but Jake Dickson takes 5lbs off and given she won handsomely at 70 in June, that bump doesn’t seem like it’ll be enough to stop her.

Tip 2 - 3:30 Kempton - Ten Of Clubs

A tricky-looking contest here, with plenty of runners making their handicap debut and stepping up in trip. One such horse is Ten Of Clubs. He’s shown practically nothing in three runs to date, beating a total of four horses in the process. The shortest price he’s been for those runs is 50/1, so it’s pretty clear connections feel he’ll benefit from getting a rating and switching to handicaps. Saffie Osborne takes over in the saddle today and we should see Ten Of Clubs in a better light.

Tip 3 - 5:00 Kempton - Knight Templar

The question mark will be whether Knight Templar quite has the ability to take a Class 4 on the flat, but his record over course and distance is well worth taking a chance on given the prices. Three CD attempts have seen a record of 112, and staying the full two miles should be absolutely no issue here with his hurdling form decent too. Returned from 121 days off to finish a close second at Sandown on the turf and should come on again for that to outrun the morning odds.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
