Tip 1 - 1:10 Ayr - Traprain Law
Traprain Law returns to this race for a third time to attempt to right the wrongs of his previous visits, which saw him come second in 2024 and pull up last year. Now an experienced chaser, he’s gone well this season with form of 24213 with the first four of those runs being at around 2m. This race is a step up in grade so will be trickier, but he’s fared nicely in Class 1s before.

Tip 4 - 3:35 Ayr - Isaac Des Obeaux
A race over four miles is always going to be a stamina test anyway, but with the going soft on Friday and more rain set to continue until the off, this is going to need a special sort of engine to win it. There could well be horses capable of more, but we want one proven around that far. Isaac Des Obeaux was last seen convincingly winning a Grade 3 over 4m2f on soft ground at Uttoxeter in March. That followed a win over three miles on ground that heavy didn’t do justice to in December. He should get round when many other runners won’t.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
