It’s not often you’ll find a flat horse making its handicap debut with a rating of 105, as that would usually suggest it’s a group horse. That’s exactly what Limestone is, thanks to his win in the Group 2 Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. He was subsequently outclassed in the Grand Prix de Paris and benefits from a massive ease in grade here. Despite having to concede weight all round, he’s one of the few proven stayers in the lineup and has the benefit of having Ryan Moore on board.

Tip 2 - 3:35 York - Opportunity

Opportunity has never gone the 1m6f that the Ebor Handicap requires but his form this year makes this too good of a chance to pass up. The four-year-old opened his account for the year at Carlisle in May at 1m3f before scoring in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot. He couldn’t follow it up at Glorious Goodwood, finishing second, but back down in grade today makes him more than worthy of consideration.

Tip 3 - 4:25 Chester - U S S Charleston

Chester sprint races are almost always dominated by the horses on the the inside rails, and this is sure to be no different. U S S Charleston had a maiden win on turf in a Class 5 at Yarmouth in May. He struggled in three races thereafter before an excellent second in a Class 3 at Goodwood last month. Back down in calmer waters of a Class 4 and one of the two inside rails should give him a great chance.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
