Tip 1 - 3:00 Newmarket - Quinault
A few making their seasonal debuts here, but we want one of the more experienced runners in the race who already has two showings in 2026. Quinault looked to take a bit of a step back after winning a Group 3 at York in June last year but has recovered nicely. Ended the season with a close third at 66/1 in the British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot. Second on reappearance before winning a valuable Group 3 in Doha in February. Has a good record at Newmarket with four wins and a place from six appearances, including a Listed affair in 2024.

Tip 2 - 3:35 Newmarket - Oxagon
On the face of it, Oxagon faces an impossible task, having to make up 24 lengths with Hawk Mountain on their running in the Futurity Stakes at Doncaster in October. The return to a sounder surface will be much more to Oxagon’s liking, as the heavy ground that day was given as the reason for his poor showing. With first time cheekpieces and a yard in flying form (five winners from last nine runners), he could well upset the top two in the betting.

Tip 3 - 4:22 Hereford - Jullou De Grissay
It was a disappointing return to action for Jullou De Grissay last time out, finishing eighth after six months off, but he should be much better today now he’s shaken off those cobwebs. He’s got no problems staying the distance and the experience of Sam Twiston-Davies taking the reins might just be the push that takes him back into the winners circle.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
