Tip 1 - 2:30 Punchestown - Willitgoahead
On his day Willitgoahead is a much better horse than anything else in this race and if he was in the form of 2025 he would probably be an unbackable price. With form figures of UP in his last two races his condition is going to need to be taken on trust, but it is telling Gordon Elliott hasn’t chosen to run anything else in this race just in case, has fitted first time headgear and has given a talented claimer the leg up.

2:30 3:15 Epsom - Rathgar
Any of the seven in this small field have a legitimate chance of winning but it’s Rathgar who gets the nod here. The six-year-old returned from nine months off a few weeks ago and managed a respectable fourth at Kempton before following that up with victory at Newbury 10 days ago. He came second in this race 12 months ago and has won at this grade before.

Tip 3 - 3:40 Punchestown - Murcia
Murcia hasn’t kicked on since winning a Grade 1 at Aintree last season, but has run some eyecatching races in handicaps this term. Most notably, she stayed on well for fourth at the Dublin Racing Festival despite racing wide and sacrificing a lot of ground on heavy going, which wouldn’t have suited. Another fine effort on ground that would have been soft enough came at Fairyhouse and she could be primed for today, with what should be her optimal conditions.

Tip 4 - 4:28 Yarmouth - Lady Mariko
Favourite Miss Nightfall was tried at a much higher level last year to not much success but may find things calmer here. However, it is Lady Mariko we think could be on the up. Won on seasonal reappearance and even up six pounds doesn’t look like it should stop her if in the same form. Is one for one over course and distance, and the firm ground should be to her liking.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
