The fourth and final Grand Slam event on the tennis calendar is reaching the business end of the tournament as the 143rd US Open in New York reaches the latter stages. The world's best players will be hoping they are crowned champions when the fortnight comes to a close at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion in the men's draw, but his reign was ended in dramatic fashion by Daniil Medvedev. The men's final will be between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev.

Djokovic, who withdrew from last year's tournament because he didn't meet the US government's Covid-19 vaccination policy for non US citizens, will be looking to bounce back from his defeat in the Wimbledon final to Alcaraz and the Serb is justifying his position as the pre-tournament favourite with many of the leading tennis betting sites.

In the women's draw, Coco Gauff won her first Grand Slam event after coming from a set down to beat Aryna Sabalenka. But who will be crowned the King of New York. Will it be Novak Djokovic, who is going for his 24th Grand Slam title, or Daniil Medvedev who is going for his second, and second at the US Open? Be sure to check out the best free bet offers available before and during the men's final.

The first US Open was contested in 1881 when it was played at Rhode Island. After a couple of different venues, the tournament was moved in 1978 to the newly-built Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York, where it remains to this day.

In the Open era, Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer lead the way with five US Open titles. Novak Djokovic can move to within one of that trio of players if he can be the last player standing this year. In the women's draw, Americans Chris Evert and Serena Williams have each won six US Opens.

The US Open is a chance for players to end the year on a high by winning the final Grand Slam tournament. A total of 128 players have qualified for the men and women's draw, all with aspirations to end the fortnight as champions, and that includes qualifiers. The last qualifier to win the US Open was Britain's Emma Raducanu who shocked the tennis world in 2021 to become the first male or female qualifier to win a Grand Slam tournament in the Open era.

There are only four chances to win a Grand Slam tournament every year, and the final opportunity starts in New York next week. All that needs to be done is win seven matches. Sounds easy, but there are a lot of factors that can come into play.

Not only is the US Open a chance to land a Grand Slam title, it's also a chance for those not expected to win the tournament, to boost their earnings and world rankings. With a total prize fund of £51.4m ($65m), this fortnight can turn an average season into a very profitable one. You'll find competitive odds at the leading UK betting sites from the start to the end of the US Open fortnight.

US Open Betting Odds

Just two men remain in the US Open, but one of them is not who you expected. Novak Djokovic will face Daniil Medvedev, who sensationally knocked out the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. These are the odds ahead of Sunday's US Open men's final:

BoyleSports Enhanced Odds

The last time Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev met at the US Open, Medvedev won in straight sets, on the Russian's route to winning the tournament. Djokovic's record 24th Grand Slam title evaded him at Wimbledon when he lost in five sets to Carlos Alcaraz.

Can history repeat itself? BoyleSports has enhanced odds of 7/1 from 13/2 for Medvedev to win the US Open final in five sets.

Coral Enhanced Odds

Novak Djokovic's passage to the final has been relatively straight forward, compared to Daniil Medvedev. While Medvedev has only won in straight sets in three of his six matches, Djokovic has won 3-0 five times.

The one time he lost a set was against his fellow Serbian Laslo Djere, who won the first two sets, before Djokovic won the nest three. Djokovic might need those powers of recovery against Medvedev today. Coral has boosted odds of 6/1 from 5/1 for Djokovic to lose the first set and go on and win the final.
