CSKA Moscow v Roma betting tips – Draw on the cards in Russia

Roma would accept an away point in Moscow

CSKA Moscow play host to Roma on Tuesday evening, both sides hopeful of the three points which would take them closer to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Bayern Munich have claimed top spot in Group E with ease with four wins from four, however second spot is still up for grabs with a mere two points separating three sides. CSKA Moscow and Roma sit with four points each, Man City looking doomed at the bottom of the table, two points adrift from the two sides above them. A win for either CSKA or Roma will place them firmly in the driving seat for progression to the knockout stages.

Roma thrashed the Russian side to the tune of 5-1 in Italy earlier in the campaign, however Moscow will be a much more daunting prospect on home soil, having lost their match against Bayern Munich by a single goal and drawing with Man City at the Etihad. Roma are hardly at their best on the road and will be happy to hold their hosts to a draw in Moscow on Tuesday.

Roma have managed a mere one win out of their last six games away from home and as such, we are somewhat wary of backing the Serie A side to clinch full points in this clash. Roma are nevertheless 8/5 favourites to triumph at Betfred, BetVictor offering 19/10 for CSKA to follow up their surprise win against Man City with a second successive victory on Tuesday. Our choice however is a draw, up for grabs at 5/2 with Sky Bet. The visitors would almost certainly be happy with such an outcome in the knowledge that they face a demoralised Manchester City in their next match, Moscow facing Bayern Munich in their corresponding fixture.

Roma are not exactly rock-solid in defence however and we feel that Moscow will sneak through the back line. The Serie A side have managed just a single clean sheet in their previous seven outings on the road and Seydou Doumbia is a player who will need watching, the CSKA star bagging seven goals in his last nine outings for his side. He has scored in the last two Champions League matches and represents good value on the anytime goalscorer market at odds of 2/1 with 888sport.

CSKA Moscow’s defence is also far from secure, the side managing only two clean sheets from their last eleven matches. We feel that Roma can also get themselves on the scoresheet on Tuesday and as such, we’ll be backing a draw with both teams scoring.
