Now here's a match we're looking forward to. A single point separate Liverpool and West Ham, both sides enjoying a relatively successful run of form coming into this match. We think this will be a cracker.
Why? Well both sides will be desperate to climb into the top four and they have a chance of moving closer to that goal with a win at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Brendan Rodgers side haven’t exactly been impressing this season, however they have thrown up a few entertaining matches of late and will be confident of sweeping past the Hammers and perhaps into the top six.
West Ham will have other ideas however. Sam Allardyce has steered his side to seventh in the Premier League thanks to some excellent results and he will hold no fear heading to Anfield this weekend. Indeed, the Hammers haven’t suffered a single defeat this year in any competition and will be in high spirits coming into this encounter.
Indeed, West Ham have lost just two of their last twelve matches, those defeats coming at the hands of Arsenal and Chelsea. Liverpool have been in cup action in their last three outings, Championship side Bolton holding them to a 0-0 draw and forcing a replay in the FA Cup and Chelsea knocking them out of the Capital One Cup and denying them a place in the finals thanks to an extra-time strike from Ivanovic.
The home side start this match as favourites at 7/10, however this price holds little in the way of value. In fact, we feel that Liverpool can’t be trusted to get anything from this clash and therefore we’ll be looking at the Londoners for our choices.
West Ham have proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with this season and with just three away defeats so far this season, we feel that they can come away from Anfield with the points in the bag.
Diafro Sakho is top scorer for the Hammers this season and with ten goals under his belt so far, he will be the man to watch in this match. Liverpool don’t possess the strongest defence in the division and the man from Senegal should find little difficulty finding a way past the home rearguard at some point of this match.
Balotelli, Sturridge and Sterling will always pose a danger for the away defence however and we can expect goals for the Reds too. This has all the makings of a high-scoring affair and as such we’ll be looking seriously at Over 3.5 goals at 2/1 with William Hill.
