One of the top free-agent pitchers on the market this offseason is left-hander Framber Valdez, who has spent the first eight years of his Major League Baseball career with the Houston Astros.

The ace starter, who has received Cy Young votes in four different seasons, is a two-time MLB All-Star and won the World Series with the Astros in 2022. Baltimore already signed slugging first baseman Pete Alonso this offseason to strengthen the lineup, so picking up someone like Valdez to headline the pitching staff would be a great bow to tie up a fantastic offseason.

San Francisco Giants (+350)

The San Francisco Giants were a disappointment last year, missing the playoffs. They need to improve both their lineup and pitching staff, and bringing in a proven winner such as Valdez would certainly help the Giants in their quest to make it back to the postseason. The team has money to spend and a hole in the rotation, so Valdez, 32, would be a nice fit.

New York Mets (+450)

The New York Mets missed the playoffs this year, and you know that owner Steve Cohen is going to spend his way out of the hole in an effort to earn a postseason return. An ace such as Valdez would help the Mets get back to the promised land and make a World Series run (they have +1400 odds at bet365 Sportsbook to win it all). The Mets have already signed Bo Bichette and traded for Freddy Peralta, so bringing in Valdez would help complete what has been a very strong offseason for the team from Queens.

Chicago Cubs (+600)

The Chicago Cubs picked up star third baseman Alex Bregman in free agency, so it's clear this team is trying to make a World Series run. While the Cubs do have a strong rotation already, if they were to add Valdez to it, it would make the Cubs' rotation even better as they compete in the NL.
