College Football Week 0 Best Bets
Georgia Tech +13 vs. Florida State
Saturday, August 24, (Dublin, Ireland)
Happy New Year! College football returns with an ACC clash in Dublin, Ireland. Kickoff is set for noon, EDT.
Florida State QB DJ Uiagalelei makes his 41st college start in this game. He transferred to Tallahassee from Oregon State after 2 seasons and time at Clemson. He’s already on the Maxwell Award watch list. FSU enters the season as near 2-TD favorites in its first game. But Uiagalelei’s new team suffered a major talent drain this offseason. Expect Uiagalelei to be Florida State’s game plan here, running and throwing. But mostly running. The Jackets feature a similar QB in Haynes King. He threw for more than 2,800 yards, 27 TDs and 16 picks last season, while running for 10 TDs and more than 700 yards. The Jackets will keep this one close enough to hang on for the backdoor cover.
Best Bet: Georgia Tech +13 vs. Florida State
SMU -24.5 at Nevada
SMU joins the ACC in 2024. The Mustangs have poured serious money into this program and do not plan to back into anything during their first season in their new conference. And the Mustangs, true to their OG Form as the “Pony Express,” do not let up on their opponents. SMU averaged 38.7 points last season on its way to finishing the season ranked No. 22. Look for SMU to win this game and run out of time before it runs out of points.
Best Bet: SMU -24.5 at Nevada
