William Hill announced on Tuesday that it has launched its sportsbook app in Washington D.C., following approval of the D.C. Office of Lottery and Gaming.

The William Hill sportsbook’s mobile app can be used within a two-block radius around Capital One Arena (excluding federal buildings) and offers sports fans a deep array of markets and bet types, including parlay cards and live in-play wagering. The app also includes a quick and secure registration process and various options to deposit and withdraw funds.

William Hill, the exclusive sports betting partner of the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, Washington Mystics and Monumental Sports & Entertainment, opened its pop-up sportsbook at Capital One Arena in July. The company will debut a full-service sportsbook and restaurant there in early 2021.

William Hill Has Apps in Eight Jurisdictions

William Hill has introduced mobile sports betting apps in eight U.S. jurisdictions (Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nevada, New Jersey, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.) since launching its first mobile offering in 2012. It also powers the trading services for the Rhode Island Lottery mobile app.

This is the second mobile application in the D.C. market. D.C. Lottery’s mobile app, GambetDC, powered by Intralot, has been criticized for its odds pricing and other issues in the nation’s capital as well as in Montana.

In November, William Hill’s total handle decreased slightly in the Washington, D.C. sports betting market. The total handle of $13.7 million was $654,195 less than October’s $14.4 million, according to figures posted on the DC Lottery website. That was a 4.9% drop month over month.

William Hill also saw a slight decrease in the number of wagers placed. It had 130,029, compared to 144,882 placed in October, the figures showed. Prizes and payouts totaled just under $11 million ($10,975,884). Its gross gaming revenue (GGR) was $2.7 million with tax revenue showing a small increase from October at $272,852.
