Coach Kevin Stefanski is out in Cleveland after going 8-26 over his last two seasons.

With that in mind, the team at Bookies.com broke down the NFL odds on who could be the Browns first new head coach since 2020, with a host of NFL coordinators and one current head coach making it onto our list.

Who Replaces Kevin Stefanski in Cleveland?

Right now, our top candidate to get the Browns job is another recently fired coach, with Mike McDaniel holding +550 odds of being the next Cleveland coach after getting let go by the Miami Dolphins last week.

In four years with the AFC East club, McDaniel managed to go 35-33, making the postseason two years in a row in 2022 and 2023 before falling out, going 8-9 and 7-10 in successive seasons to end his time with the franchise.

Looking back, McDaniel does have a brief connection to the Browns franchise, having served as the team’s wide receivers coach for one season way back in 2014, though how much of an impact that’ll have on his job potential this go-round remains to be seen.

Outside of McDaniel, keep an eye on other hot coordinator candidates like Chris Shula of the Los Angeles Rams (+600), Robert Saleh of the San Francisco 49ers (+800) and Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken and Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher (+900 each).

Shula is the grandson of legendary NFL head coach Don Shula, spending time in a variety of assistant coaching roles with the Rams since arriving in L.A. back in 2017 from San Diego, while Saleh previously was the head coach of the New York Jets from 2021 to 2024, going 20-36 (.357) with the AFC East squad.

Monken’s been the OC in Baltimore since arriving from Georgia in 2023, though he did serve as the Browns OC back in 2019, with stops as an OC with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers form 2016 to 2018 and in the college game with Oklahoma State (from 2011 to 2012) and Eastern Michigan (from 1998 to 1999).

Pitcher’s been Cincy’s OC for two years, having served in a host of offensive assistant roles with the Bengals since arriving from Cortland back in 2016, working his way up from the team’s offensive assistant to OC during that time.

Who Else Could Make it in Cleveland?

Longshots to keep in mind when it comes to Cincinnati’s opening this time around include another former Dolphins head coach, in Brian Flores (+1500), while former Detroit Lions head coach and current Browns DC Jim Schwartz is also listed at +1500, ahead of Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph (+2000), Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator (and former Chicago Bears head coach) Matt Nagy, with the latter two coming in at +2500 apiece.

Flores had decent success with Miami during his three-year run with the club, going 24-25 with two winning seasons in a row to end things in 2020 and 2021, going 10-6 and 9-7 in succession before getting fired, while Schwartz went 29-51 with the Lions from 2009 to 2013, making the postseason once (in 2011), with that year’s 10-6 finish being his lone campaign finishing above the proverbial .500 mark.

Joseph’s time as the head coach of the Broncos ended in a 11-21 dud, with the former NFL defensive back going 5-11 and 6-10 before getting shown the door, while Nagy went 34-31 with the Bears from 2018 to 2021, making the postseason in 2018 (12-4) and 2020 (8-8), with an 8-8 campaign and a 6-11 clunker in 2021.

Durde is an English-born assistant coach, having played linebacker with the Panthers and Chiefs practice squads in 2005 and 2008 before moving into the league as a diversity coaching fellow with the Atlanta Falcons in 2016. Since then, Durde’s worked his way up to the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator position, serving in that role for two seasons.

Regardless of who gets the Cleveland job this offseason, a new man will call the shots for the Browns come 2026, as the AFC North franchise looks to springboard their way back to success after 3-14 and 5-12 seasons in Stefanski’s final two years running the show.
