The Ultimate NFL Outdoor Nosebleed lies inside Levi’s Stadium. That venue plays host to Super Bowl 60 this season. The lucky ticket holder who lands in Section 401, Row 28, Seat 1 gets to watch the Big Game some 539.1 feet away from midfield.

The furthest seat from midfield in the entire NFL belongs, to the surprise of no one and the joy of Jerry Jones, inside the spaceship that is AT&T Stadium. Section 431, Row 22, Seat 1 rests beneath the massive dome some 552.4 feet from midfield.

There are no concerns about the Cowboys reaching the Super Bowl this season.

How We Did It?

We used Google Earth to determine the distance from midfield to each seat location furthest away from each field’s midpoint. For those stadiums under cover, we used seating charts and measured those against the Google Earth image of the stadiums.

Finally, we had to determine – or in some cases estimate - the height of each seat. We did that using multiple sources, including stadium websites, news stories, blueprints, and comparisons to items in the stadiums with official sizes – including scoreboards and the field itself.

To compute the true 3D distance from midfield, we dusted off our high school geometry textbooks and turned each seat location into top point of a right triangle. In each calculation, a = the distance from midfield to the seat as determined by Google Earth and its coordinates and b = the printed, determined, or estimated height, of the seat above the field.

To determine c – or the hypotenuse of this right triangle and the true distance from each seat to the midpoint of the field - ChatGPT applied the Pythagorean Theorem and did the math for us.

Some stadiums were symmetrical in terms of their most extreme seating, in that case, we chose the seat furthest away from the home team’s sideline.
