Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose. Check out their best bets for today below.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 12:46 Nottingham - Chief Minister

Chief Minister has faced some much tougher assignments than this, including when finishing midfield in a valuable sales race at Newmarket in August. He seems to have found his level now handicapping, having finished second at Ffos Las on nursery debut before flopping at Bath when favourite. Connections couldn’t find a reason for that poor performance, but the return to bottomless ground today could be the key, considering it was soft at Ffos Las for his career-best.

Tip 2 - 1:51 Newton Abbot - Vol Royale

Sean Bowen up for the first time makes Vol Royale an interesting proposition on seasonal debut. Apart from one blip last year, he was highly progressive, winning three from four including how he looked for the last of those wins. Still young and unexposed, there could be a lot more to come from him this season, it would be a surprise if he ended the year rated as low as 124.

Tip 3 - 2:06 Huntingdon - Betty’s Tiara

Betty’s Tiara has proven herself to be a stayer, having chalked up wins over 2m7f and made good accounts over even longer races. She won at Worcester in August when 28/1 and most recently finished a creditable second behind the odds-on favourite over this distance two weeks ago. She goes off at 103, which appears to be her limit these days despite a good run last summer at 108, and it could all add up to another victory this year.

Tip 4 - 2:36 Huntingdon - Gallivanted

We’ll be hoping that Galllivanted’s first run out of the season there were some cobwebs that needed to be cleared. Going off as 3/1 favourite, he finished seventh, 50 lengths back from the winner. Prior to that, he had shown a decent level in extended sprints and won a maiden hurdle at Musselburgh. If better for the first run out, we can expect a much stronger showing today.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
