2023 Women’s World Cup Futures

No nation (represented in the men’s or women’s game) has won three in a row. This is not surprising for a tournament that comes once every four years because it would require dominating the game over the course of 12 years. That is no mean feat in any sport, never mind soccer.

However, they’ve since bounded back behind an eight-match winning streak which includes winning all three of their matches at the 2023 SheBelieves Cup presented by Visa to win the title. They beat Canada (2-0), Japan (1-0) and Brazil (2-1).

England claimed the UEFA Women’s Euro title in 2022 at the expense of Germany in the final. That timely triumph has set them up in the eyes of bookmakers as the biggest threat to the United States at the 2023 Women’s World Cup. Spain were among the favorites to win the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euro title, but they stumbled in the quarterfinal hurdle against England. By all accounts, the absence of their star player Alexia Putellas, the Ballon d’Or winner, due to injury hindered them.

Since the Euros, La Roja are undefeated in 10 of their last 12 matches – their lone hiccup came in a 2-1 loss to Australia in the FFA Cup of Nations in February. Good news, Putellas 

France +800

France suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to the United States in the 2019 Women’s World Cup quarterfinals on home soil. To date, Les Bleus’ best result was a fourth-place finish in 2011.

Les Bleus won the Tournoi de France earlier this year, narrowly edging Denmark in the competition. Other participants included Norway and Uruguay.

The Rest of the Field

Brazil is the South American champion. Japan and China have established a tradition of success in Asia, but only Japan has climbed the summit of this prestigious competition. 

European nations such as Denmark and Norway have star-studded players that could propel them into the knockouts. While co-hosts Australia, who beat Spain in a pre-tournament warm-up match, will be motivated on home soil. 

Nations making their World Cup debut include Haiti, Ireland, Morocco, Philippines, Portugal, Vietnam and Zambia.

How to Bet 2023 Women's World Cup

Moneyline: Betting the moneyline is the most straightforward bet in sports where a bettor simply picks a side to win. In soccer, it’s common to see a three-way moneyline with the third option being the draw (or tie). Soccer is typically a low-scoring game with games often ending in ties after 90 minutes.

Double chance:  Betting the double chance allows bettors to bet on two of the three outcomes simultaneously. Instead of betting on the moneyline and backing either Team A, Team B or the Draw, a bettor can bet on Team A or B to win or draw, thus spreading the risk.
