New Orleans Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III is expected to be one of the most highly coveted players ahead of the Feb. 5 NBA Trade Deadline. Murphy is the exact type of premium, two-way wing contenders love, but multiple reports say the Pelicans have been telling teams they don’t plan to move him, just like teammate Herb Jones. Still, the Golden State Warriors have repeatedly been tied to “wish list” targets such as Murphy as the deadline nears, and that’s why he could be on the move.

Murphy is in the first year of a four-year, $112 million contract extension. He is having an excellent season, averaging 22.2 points per game, but the Pelicans are struggling. The might choose to trade him if they can extract major value in return.

Bookies.com, as part of our NBA betting insight, has put together hypothetical Trey Murphy III next team odds on what his next team could be.

Trey Murphy III Trade Odds (Before 2026 Deadline)

TeamOddsPct. Chance
New Orleans Pelicans-11052.4%
Golden State Warriors+55015.4%
San Antonio Spurs+90010.0%
Atlanta Hawks+14006.7%
Detroit Pistons+16005.9%
The Field+90010.0%

New Orleans Pelicans (-110)

The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the worst teams in the NBA, and they should be open to trading anyone on their roster not named Jeremiah Fears or Derik Queen. For now, the Pelicans have said they are keeping Murphy, but he could be on the move if the team gets an offer it can't refuse..

Golden State Warriors (+550)

The Golden State Warriors would be a terrific fit on paper for Murphy, who could help lead the franchise transition to the next generation after Steph Curry, who is 37. The Warriors could dangle the expiring contract of Jonathan Kuminga in a trade, along with draft picks, if the Pelicans were open to trading Murphy. At FanDuel Sportsbook, the Warriors have -118 odds to make the playoffs as of Jan. 27, compared to -112 odds that they miss out.

San Antonio Spurs (+900)

The San Antonio Spurs are one of the best teams in the Western Conference, and they have several young players and draft picks they could dangle in a trade for Murphy. Both teams are in the Southwest Division, so the Pelicans would likely prefer to trade him elsewhere. But if the Spurs make the best offer, the Pelicans have to at least listen.

Atlanta Hawks (+1400)

The Atlanta Hawks already traded their former franchise player, Trae Young, to the Washington Wizards. Still, this is a team with a lot of talent, so if the Hawks think Murphy is the missing piece, they could make a move for him. Atlanta is No. 10 in the East, the final play-in spot, and at bet365 Sportsbook the Hawks have -110 odds both to make the postseason and to miss out.

Detroit Pistons (+1600)

The Detroit Pistons are an excellent team that looks like it could be a serious NBA Championship contender. By acquiring Murphy, the Pistons could strengthen their lineup not only this season, but for several years to come.

The Field (+900)

Murphy is an excellent player on a fair-market contract for what he brings to the table. If the Pelicans put him on the trade block, most contenders should at least make a phone call to inquire about the price, making The Field (any team that we do not list) a viable option for his next team.
