Rory McIlroy finally ended his major drought and completed the long-awaited career Grand Slam at the Masters last year. With the pressure off somewhat, he’ll be bidding to land another Green Jacket at Augusta.

As you might expect, the Northern Irishman is one of the favourites to win the tournament with top betting sites. He certainly won’t be feeling the same pressure after getting that monkey off his back last year following so many near-misses. There are lots of other markets punters will be looking to back Rory on.

That includes the prospect of the 36-year-old achieving a top-five or top-10 finish over the four days at Augusta National from Thursday 9th April to Sunday 12th. He’s regularly featured high on the leaderboard during his career and will attract plenty of each-way money.

You might also fancy specific place terms, which some betting apps provide. McIlroy knows what it takes to triumph in all four majors, and he’ll be well backed again this time around. Here are the latest odds on McIlroy and the main markets available.

Can Rory Win at Augusta For a Second Time?

Despite winning the 2025 Masters, Rory McIlroy is not the outright favourite to collect a Green Jacket from the Butler Cabin next Sunday night. The Northern Irishman is operating as one of the market leaders, but adversary and world number one Scottie Scheffler is trading at a much shorter price to be crowned champion.

His start to the year followed an heroic effort in helping Team Europe retain the Ryder Cup on US soil in September, but there are some concerns over his overall fitness considering he missed the Arnold Palmer and was hampered at the Players. It’s clear his preparation for the 2026 renewal has not gone anywhere near as well as last year.

Nevertheless, Rory was in excellent form when finishing runner-up in The Genesis Invitational back in February, even if that quality performance did come at a cost. In the Players’ Championship, McIlroy could only finish tied in 46th place. A decision was then made to have an enforced break ahead of his 2026 Masters defence.

Will a Break Help McIlroy’s Masters Chances?

Only a fool would write off the Masters champion coming into the event. He’s been given the chance to mend his back ahead of the big tournament. However, there are all the duties that Rory has to undertake as the previous winner. This includes the champion’s dinner and other distractions that he could probably do without.

The last time a player won consecutive Masters titles was Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002. However, it’s a difficult feat, and even Scheffler’s recent successes came in 2022 and 2024.

That 2025 Masters success remains the last PGA Tour victory McIlroy has, although there was a notable win in September when landing the Amgen Irish Open in dramatic fashion. He was able to beat Joakim Lagergren in a play-off after recording a birdie on the third hole.

After that came a near miss in the DP World Tour Championship, where he was beaten by fellow UK competitor Matt Fitzpatrick in the first hole of a play-off. The five-time major champion has since been relatively quiet aside from that second-placed effort in the Genesis Invitational.

Rory will still be trading at odds-on to make the cut in the 2026 Masters and will be one of the more experienced campaigners in the tournament. Between 2011 and 2020, he made the cut 10 consecutive years. During that stretch, his finishes included an outright fourth place and T5 on two separate occasions.

More recently, McIlroy’s form in the Masters has been inconsistent. He failed to make the cut in 2021 and 2023, although these shortcomings happened either side of a second-placed effort in 2022. There was then a T22 in 2024 before he finally, emotionally, won in a play-off with Justin Rose a year ago and came away successful.
