U.S. World Cup Costs Overview

The 2026 FIFA World Cup runs June 11 to July 19 across 11 U.S. host cities, plus three locales in Mexico and two in Canada.

Millions of American fans are planning trips to see the world's biggest sporting event, which is on home soil for the first time since 1994. But how much will these matches cost to attend? Beyond the ticket price, fans face hotel surges, inflated concessions and a resale market unlike anything seen at a previous World Cup – thanks to FIFA's new dynamic pricing model.

Bookies.com broke down the true World Cup costs for a day trip in all 11 U.S. host cities. We combined live resale ticket data, current hotel rates, and NFL stadium concession pricing to produce a city-by-city cost index that fans and media outlets can use. For another way to assess World Cup tournament sites, see Ranking the 2026 World Cup Host Cities by Best Atmosphere.

U.S. Host City Day Trip Cost Index

No city offers better average value for World Cup fans than Atlanta. We estimate a day trip to a group stage match will costing $627, making it one of two American cities under $700 total (San Francisco is at $672).

Conversely, the most expensive World Cup host city for fans is Boston (or really Foxboro, about 30 miles south), at $1,368. That price is driven largely by hotel prices near Gillette Stadium, at an average of $541 a night on game days.

Some might expect Kansas City to be among the most affordable World Cup day trips. But thanks to the Missouri metro’s high hotel rates, it’s the second-most expensive day drip overall ($1,352), despite having the fourth-cheapest average ticket cost ($513).

The cheapest average ticket for group stage games might surprise you: It’s the San Francisco Bay Area at $379, just ahead of Atlanta’s $394 figure. Bay Arena games are set for Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, which is about 45 miles south of San Francisco (it’s much closer to San Jose).

No host city has cheaper average hotel rates for the tournament than Dallas. The city in the heart of the Lone Star State averages $160 a night to stay near AT&T Stadium this summer. That joins Houston ($168) and Miami ($172) as the only markets with rates below $200 a night.

The two cities where the Unites States Men’s National Team (USMNT) has games in Group D (two matches in Los Angeles, one in Seattle) are in the middle of the pack. At top sportsbook apps, the USMNT has odds ranging from +130 to +140 to win the group.

How Many Markets Are Below $1,000?

Overall, only four markets had total day-trip costs below $1,000 – Atlanta, San Francisco, Houston ($731) and Philadelphia ($924).

An interesting phenomenon among American markets hosting World Cup matches is in Dallas. There, even though hotels are the cheapest overall, match tickets are anything but, coming in at $968 on average. That pushes the city’s overall day-trip cost to $1,150, good for seventh out of 11 markets surveyed.

We did not cover group stage matches, but the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey has staggering ticket costs. That match price is starting at $8,536 on resale, more than three times the average day trip cost in any other U.S. city combined.

Food and beverage costs are less of a consideration, but they are worth noting. No U.S. market has more expensive beer costs than Los Angeles ($15 each), while Seattle’s $7 per pint rate ranks as the most affordable option. Atlanta has the best bargain for hot dogs at $2, while L.A. is again the priciest spot, with your average sausage-and-bun delicacy running $10 at SoFi Stadium.

Cheapest and Most Expensive Group Stage Game Per City

Houston has the cheapest ticket for any group stage game, at $185, for a match at NRG Stadium pitting two plucky underdogs, Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia, on Hune 26.

On the flip side, the group stage match with the priciest get-in rate is Miami’s showdown between Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal against Colombia. Those ticket prices start at a staggering $2,335, with a combination of Premier League stars playing in a market that’s a hotbed of South American (and Portuguese) supporters.

The ticket prices are variable, of course. Markets such as Los Angeles are seeing huge swings based on FIFA’s dynamic pricing system. For instance, L.A.’s cheapest match (New Zealand vs. Iran on June 15, at $297) is 80% less than the market’s most expensive one (USA vs. Paraguay on June 12, at $1,459). So there are bargains, relatively speaking, even in the most expensive host cities, but not for USMNT supporters because the demand way outstrips the supply. See our U.S. World Cup Roster Odds for on-field concerns.

Our conclusion should come as no surprise: Fans hoping to take in any 2026 World Cup matches will have to be ready to shell out some serious cash. Each of the 11 American markets we surveyed had serious match day expenditures, from tickets to hotels, even down to those $15 beers at SoFi Stadium.

Expanded Explanation of Methodology

These were sourced from SeatGeek's resale marketplace on April 2, 2026. For each U.S. host city, Bookies.com recorded the "from" (lowest available) resale price for every group stage game hosted at that venue, then calculated a simple average across all group stage games at that stadium. Knockout round games were excluded to ensure fair city-to-city comparability — group stage matchups are known quantities fans can plan around, while knockout prices are speculative until teams advance. All prices reflect the resale market; official FIFA face-value tickets were largely unavailable to general buyers at time of data collection.

Hotel Prices

Hotel prices were sourced from Hotels.com on April 2, 2026. For each city, Bookies.com identified the cheapest available 3-star or higher hotel within 10 miles of the World Cup venue for a 1-night stay on the date of each city's first group stage game. Hotel prices reflect World Cup demand surge and are subject to change.

Concession Prices

Beer and hot dog prices are drawn from Bookies.com's NFL Cost of a Game study (September 2025). Because every U.S. World Cup venue is an NFL stadium, Bookies.com applied the home NFL team's published concession prices to each respective venue. Single-item pricing: 1 beer (16 ounces), 1 hot dog.

Day Trip Total

Day trip total = Average Group Stage Ticket (SeatGeek resale "from") + 1-night hotel (Hotels.com) + 1 beer + 1 hot dog. Parking was excluded; fans staying near the stadium typically use hotel parking or rideshares rather than official FIFA parking lots.
