Seven NFL teams this season will travel more miles than it takes to go around the world.

The distance around Earth at the equator is 24,901 miles. Those teams set to travel "around the world" and then some this coming season are the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, LA Rams, LA Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, and Arizona Cardinals.

Ahead of the NFL schedule release on Thursday night, Bookies.com looked at every NFL team's road opponents for the 2023-24 regular season, along with the five international games, to compute the linear distance each team will travel in miles. We also looked at how many times they cross into a new time zone on each round trip.

This year, the unbalanced NFL schedule has each NFC team with nine road games and eight home games.

The Seattle Seahawks top our mileage list for the second year in a row. But this time they won’t need a trip to Europe to do it. The Seahawks are scheduled to travel 31,600 miles this year and will cross 36 time zones. Of course, the team could stack some of their five trips to the East Coast if scheduling permits.

The Seahawks traversed 29,446 miles on their eight road trips last season and crossed 34 time zones. That included nine time zones each way to and from Seattle to Munich, Germany, where they lost to Tampa Bay.

Every team in the NFL will travel at least 11,000 miles this season. The Cincinnati Bengals will travel the fewest miles. They will cover 11,942 miles and traverse 14 time zones, averaging 1,492 miles on each trip.

How Far Will Each NFL Team Travel This Season?

Here is a breakdown of the travel mileage in store for all 32 NFL teams for the 2023-24 NFL betting regular season. These numbers include mileage for teams playing in the five NFL international games this season (home and away teams, as both will be traveling).

The mileage was calculated by using the linear air distance between each stadium.

Five teams have international home games scheduled in 2023. The Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans will be playing host to games at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Jacksonville Jaguars will be playing a “home” game at Wembley Stadium in London on Oct. 1 against the Atlanta Falcons. A week later, Jacksonville will be the "road" team against the Bills at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The following week, the Baltimore Ravens play Tennessee at the same London pitch.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots will play home games in Germany in Frankfurt.

Had the Indianapolis Colts not played the Patriots in Germany, they would have traveled just 7,833 miles, for an average of just 976 miles on each road trip. And they would have changed time zones only four times. Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers traveled the fewest miles of any NFL team. The Steelers never left the Eastern Time Zone and covered just 6,442 miles. This year, the Steelers are scheduled to cover 16,536 miles and cross 20 time zones.

How Far Will The Super Bowl Favorites Travel?

The Kansas City Chiefs are the betting favorites to win the Super Bowl at +650 NFL odds with DraftKings. They will travel 24,156 miles this regular season, crossing 30 time zones. Their longest round trip is a 9,450-mile journey to and from Germany.

The San Francisco 49ers are the top pick out of the NFC to win the Super Bowl at +700 with DraftKings. They are scheduled to travel the second most miles of any NFL team not leaving the United States: 29,958 miles. That includes 36 time zone changes, and averages 3,328 miles per trip.

The longest domestic road trip – 5,186 miles - has the Los Angeles Chargers traveling across the continent to visit the New England Patriots. The shortest "road trip" this season is zero miles when the New York Giants “play host” to the Jets. Both teams share MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, as their home field.
