The ESPN BET app will be up and running across 17 states in time for the hearty NFL betting repast that accompanies Thanksgiving Day Weekend.

Starting on Turkey Day, which falls early this year on November 23, the NFL will offer its traditional holiday fare with games at Dallas and Detroit in the afternoon and a night game. This year it’s in Seattle.

The Shield offers an added twist this season – its first-ever game on Black Friday. That puts the NFL in direct competition with several big-time college games, the NBA, and the NHL.

Not to mention Amazon Prime, Walmart Plus, and the last mall still standing in America.

There are no teams on the bye during Thanksgiving Week. Park Avenue whiffed on some of its prime-time matchups. The Sunday night game has the Baltimore Ravens visiting the forever .500 Los Angeles Chargers. The Monday night game – cover your eyes – has the Bears visiting Minnesota.

Look For A Sunday Flex In Cincinnati.

The best matchup of the weekend is sitting in the 1 p.m. timeslot on Sunday. The Steelers visit Cincinnati in an up-for-grabs AFC North showdown. This game is a candidate to be flexed into the Sunday night spot currently occupied by the Ravens and Chargers.

But fear not bettors new to the ESPN BET app, or those who wager using other sports betting apps. There are five key wagers to make before you settle in for turkey and all the trimmings with your friends and/or family.

Packers at Lions, Thanksgiving Day

Wager & Odds: TBD

Best Bet: This game should be a snoozer. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t offer opportunities or isn’t worth your time and money. The Lions remain underappreciated when it comes to oddsmakers and bettors. They should win the NFC North by default. But they need a blowout win on national TV against a divisional foe to serve notice across the NFL. Regardless of how big this lie gets, the Lions will cover.

49ers at Seahawks, Thanksgiving Night

Wager & Odds: TBD

Best Bets: The 49ers were running away with the NFC West early. Then they lost 3 straight heading into their bye. Brock Purdy was rendered irrelevant. And the team has been hit with injuries in critical spots. The Seahawks are floating between contender/pretender status. A win at home against the 49ers doesn’t mean an NFC West championship for the Seahawks. But it means the 49ers will have a fight on their hands over the final third of the season.

Steelers at Bengals, Sunday, Nov. 26

Wager & Odds: TBD

Best Bet: The Cincinnati Bengals needed two months to sharpen their claws. The Steelers have quietly – at least until now – stayed just below the surface in the AFC North. But Mike Tomlin has his team in position for a playoff berth or a possible surprise division title depending how how they play against their AFC North foes. The Steelers cannot afford to get too far behind the Bengals, or it could get ugly fast.

Bills at Eagles, Sunday, Nov. 26

Wager & Odds: TBD

Best Bet: Are the Bills for real this season? We’ll find out on Sunday afternoon. Whether you’re stuck at the airport waiting for your flight, in the car headed home through the woods and back over the river from grandma’s house, or still in your three-day food coma, this one is a must-see.

The Bills are the 2nd pick in the AFC East and they could well miss the playoffs if the teams in the AFC North don’t beat each other into oblivion down the stretch. Josh Allen has been asked to handle too much of the load for Buffalo. The Eagles’ defense is primed to make his day as miserable as possible.
