Kansas City Chiefs NFL Draft Odds: DL & Secondary Among Top Needs

After consecutive trips to the Super Bowl, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs fell in the AFC Championship game to Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
For 2022, Kansas City is available around +800 to win Super Bowl 57 on the NFL futures market. The Chiefs aren’t building, they’re here to win the Super Bowl now. That said, they just traded away their top offensive weapon, the electric Tyreek Hill, for five draft picks, including the No. 29 overall pick. Anyone picked at Nos. 29 or 30 may not be asked to lead the team, but adding key contributors could be the difference.
Bookies.com oddsmaker Adam Thompson has revealed who the Chiefs are most likely to choose with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the first of their two selections in the first round.

Who Will the Kansas City Chiefs Take In NFL Draft?
Despite all the recent success, the Chiefs aren’t without their issues. While the defense ranked just eighth in scoring, it was 27th in yards allowed, including 21st or worse vs. both the run and the pass, and 30th in sacks.
Defensive line and secondary depth are the top needs that can be addressed early in the draft. Receiver was also on the list, and still might be if the right player is there. KC has lost Tyreek Hill, Byron Pringle and Demarcus Robinson to trade and free agency but did sign JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. But no Tyreek leaves production out there.

Boye Mafe Odds to Join The Chiefs
The Chiefs allowed 264 pass yards per game, eighth-most in the NFL. Much of that was due to an inability to put much pressure on the QB. Safety and edge rusher are the most pressing items of need to win now, and Mafe is sitting right where it makes a lot of sense for KC.
Mafe was known for his explosive and impressive spurts of play, but not necessarily his game-in, game-out consistency. But the potential is there for the Minnesota product to develop into a regular contributor. At this stage in the draft, Mafe – ranked between Nos. 25-30 on most draft boards – can find a spot on the field in Week 1 for the Chiefs.
