The Kansas City Chiefs just won the Super Bowl for the second time in four seasons, led by NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes and the top-ranked offense.

As the quest begins for a fourth Super Bowl appearance in five seasons, the Chiefs aren’t without their issues. The defense ranked bottom-10 vs. the pass and both starting offensive tackles are gone via free agency.

Bookies.com oddsmaker Adam Thompson has used his resources of NFL contacts developed over 20 years covering the league and the NFL Draft to create his hypothetical NFL futures odds on who gets selected 31st by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Who Will Kansas City Chiefs Take In 2023 NFL Draft?

Trying to handicap who gets picked 31st isn’t easy, and that’s reflected in The Field, the heavy favorite here. Kansas City could go in any direction, even tight end.

In terms of quality first-round-level players still available at No. 31, there may be a surplus of edge rushers and cornerbacks. While CB isn’t a major area of need, edge is in the mix.

Perhaps the top choice for KC, if available, is Nolan Smith of Georgia. Smith opened eyes at the NFL Combine by running a 4.39 40-yard dash with a vertical jump of 41-5. At just 238 pounds, he’s undersized, but Andy Reid may like the challenge of finding out how to use that elite athleticism.

Iowa’s Will McDonald IV is undersized at his position, but had a good showing at the NFL Combine and had All-Big Ten production in 2022. Calijah Kancey of Pittsburgh fills a spot on the defensive front. He, too, was bolstered by a top showing at the combined.

Anton Harrison Odds to Join The Chiefs

The team’s biggest need is likely still offensive tackle. KC lost All-Pro tackle Orlando Brown to the rival Bengals, and fellow starting OT Andrew Wylie to the Commanders. The team did add Jaguars starter Jawaan Taylor, but tackle remains a point of emphasis in the offseason.

Protecting Mahomes is always a huge key to success. Filling the role with a rookie may not be the best-case scenario, and Oklahoma’s Anton Harrison would be considered a long-term fix for a short-term issue. Dawand Jones of Ohio State could also be in the mix for the final selection of the first round.

JuJu Smith-Schuster left via free agency, so receiver is on the radar. Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt is a possible candidate to be here at 31.

The Field is led by players the Chiefs could covet but are unlikely to be available when they're on the board, including USC WR Jordan Addison, Clemson DE Bryan Breese and Alabama safety Brian Branch
