The LSU Tigers capped off an undefeated season in 2019 by winning the national championship. The Alabama Crimson Tide went 11-2 and missed the College Football Playoff title game for the first time in five seasons.

But each team is on equal footing when it comes to marquee players in the 2020 NFL Draft and in an NFL betting proposition.

Oddsmakers have put the Over/Under on total number of first round picks for both LSU and Alabama at 5.5 players. And to make this aspect of the SEC West rivalry even more interesting, Unibet has posted odds on which SEC powerhouse will have more players drafted in the first round.

Who Is Going For LSU

The Tigers could have as many as six players taken in the opening round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Of those six, four appear to be virtual locks.

QB Joe Burrow is the unanimous No. 1 overall pick. After Burrow, however, the rest of the Tigers’ first-rounders likely will come in the second part of the round.

LB K’Lavon Chaisson and CB Kristian Fulton have been pegged between No. 16 and No. 25 in most mock drafts.

Kristian Fulton of LSU is rated as one of the top cornerbacks available in the NFL Draft.

WR Justin Jefferson is right in the mix, too. LB Patrick Queen has been trending upward and is likely to be taken in the first round, but it’ll be close.

Grant Delpit is considered the No. 2 safety in the draft, but there might not be any players at his position taken in the opening round. And if there is just one, it’s going to be a player from Alabama.

Who Is Going For Alabama

Alabama has two players who could be a top 10 pick, and two more that may go soon after.

QB Tua Tagovailoa is the key to the entire NFL Draft right now. Rumors swirl about teams potentially trading up to No. 3 to get the Crimson Tide QB, and it’s highly unlikely he falls past No. 5. Offensive lineman Jedrick Wills is also a candidate to go as early as No. 4, but no later than No. 12 or 13.

Alabama WRs Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III will be among the first wideouts selected and each should be gone by the opening round’s midway point.

Those are the four no-doubters, with two other strong possibilities and an additional late wild card.

Trevon Diggs is around the No. 4-5 range among cornerbacks. Most experts believe he’ll be selected in the opening round. The same goes for Xavier McKinney, the top safety in the draft. He’ll likely get picked over Delpit but there’s no guarantee it’ll happen in the first 32 selections.

Edge rusher Terrell Lewis is a first-round talent, but durability concerns likely push him to Round 2.

Xavier McKinney could settle the Alabama vs. LSU prop bet in favor of the Crimson Tide if he is drafted in the first round.

Conclusion

LSU will for sure have four first-rounders and should have five if Queen sneaks in, which I think he will. Delpit would make it six, but that’s far from a lock for this NFL futures betting prop.

Alabama has four absolute first-rounders but there are two others who are on an inside track to be taken early enough. It wouldn’t be a shock to see a team pull the trigger on the potential-laden Lewis, too.

Take Alabama to have more first-round picks than LSU, with a push the likely worst-case scenario for Crimson Tide backers. Make your bet now at Unibet.
