The Kirk Cousins era in Minnesota is over. What exactly that means is anyone’s guess, but the Minnesota Vikings have some work to do to get back on the winning track after a 7-10 campaign in 2023.

The team plummeted a whopping six games compared to its 2022 record of 13-4. As the draft looms, the quarterback atop the depth chart is 49ers castoff Sam Darnold.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has used his resources of NFL contacts developed over 20 years covering the league and the NFL Draft to create his hypothetical  NFL futures odds on who gets selected 11th by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Top 2024 NFL Draft Vikings Prospects

The Vikings may not be all-in on Darnold at QB, but they did improve dramatically at running back in the off-season adding former tormentor Aaron Jones from the Packers. The team has a solid receiving corps, led by all-everything Justin Jefferson.

But is Darnold the man to get the job done under center? Is the defense good enough to do its part? Last season, Minnesota’s D ranked 13th in points allowed and 16th in yards, a dramatic improvement from the year before. The pass rush is set with Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel new to town. But stopping the pass needs addressing, notably at cornerback.

If the Vikings keep the No. 11 overall pick – and that’s a huge if, as they’ve been strongly linked as buyers to move into the Top 3-4 to get their QB of choice – they’re in a spot to nab one of the premier corners on the board.

Quinyon Mitchell of Toledo and Terrion Arnold of Alabama are both physical, strong, but also quick corners who are expected to contribute immediately. Mitchell has added speed, which gives him the edge. Picking No. 11 is right where the Vikings need to be, and it would help get Minnesota’s defense to another step.

If Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy is sitting at No. 11, and most signs point to that not happening, corner is a no-brainer choice. He has skyrocketed up the charts of late, though is still not quite considered as of the Big Three QBs in this class with USC’s Caleb Williams, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, and UNC’s Drake Maye.
